Anyone know Ford 351, FI no start ideas
I sent my 95 Ford E250 , 351 fuel injected van down to Florida. 25,000 miles, sits a lot, run it a few times a year. Guy driving it got 25 miles from destination, van starts to run bad. Acts like no fuel. Change fuel filter. Van sat for an hour while getting filter. Van started up, ran, but a little rough. Drove 20 miles, quits again. Let it set for 30 mins, started back up. My guess would be ignition related or fuel pump. Only thing is, I don't know these modern engines and all the computer junk. I think I'll just send it to the dealership mechanics.

My money is on fuel pump, it is acting the same way my Dakota was doing and changed the fuel pump and it went away. With all the sitting the van does not help/ Good luck.

Will check the cap. I'm also leaning towards the FP. The pump is in the fuel tank and it's expensive.

Yep it cost about $250 and about 3 hours labor when I did it myself. They will be able to test it by putting a presurre gage at the FI to see if it get the pressure it needs.

Had a fuel pump problem on the Chevy suburban and by tapping on the bottom of the tank it would get it working again. It would stick, the other thing they told me is not to let the tank get below a 1/4 if possible. The gas around the fuel pump keeps it cool and when the tank gets to low it heats the pump up and leads to an earlier failure of the pump.

Another vote for fuel pump or possibly pump relay.

My brother took it to the Ford dealership in Crystal River yesterday. They can't find anything wrong. They did a fuel pressure test and hooked up the diagnostic thing to the computer to see if it would "throw a code", but it didn't. The guy that drove it down to Florida put a can of dry-gas in it, as he thought it was water in the fuel. When Doug drove it to the dealership, about 30 miles, it didn't miss a lick. What is bad about this deal is that every time I drive it, I'll be expecting it to break down on me. I'll just sell it. Hey Beckman, wanna make another deal!!!!
