How do I ?
How do I keep the rust off my e brake bracket so it won't look like the first photo again? Spent about two hours on it tonight.

I think it's supposed to look like that, mine does. Maybe adhesion promoter then a clear coat. DupliColor adhesion promoter is clear, maybe they all are, I don't know. Being where it is, no real moisture or heat, it should hold up pretty good. Some clears will yellow if used in the engine compartment because of the heat. There are high-heat clear coats but I wouldn't think you would need that. Krylon makes an interior.exterior clear. Maybe a satin finish?

I would make sure its free of oil and spray it with clear.

Since it's nice clean metal and you're not going to prime it the adhesion promoter might be a good idea.

Hope it works out. Some paints just don't want to stick to clean smooth metal. I would test it first but from what I saw the Duplicolor adhesion promoter was clear and shouldn't change the look.

On bare metal use Boesheild or tef-gel.
