Delo it is.
Thanks again

From Scott Wheaton who has done extensive research and testing on oil's and ZDDP levels for several years now.

Shell Rotella lowered ZDDP levels in 2007 from 1500 ppm to 1050-1100 ppm. Chevron Delo ZDDP levels dropped from 1500 to 1300 ppm, 1200 ppm is the minimum for use with stock to mild flat tappet cams.

Regular Mobil One does not have enough ZDDP, Mobile One High Performance synthetic also has 1300 ppm like Delo 15-40.

Also as I mentioned don't use any synthetic for cam breakin or any engine breakin, flat tappet or roller. I have a roller cam so ZDDP levels are not a big concern for me but I do throw in a few ounces of GM EOS at oil change.

I'll post up some more from Scott soon, after I get it together and let Scott have a look. He kindly offered to review it before I post it here.

Brad Penn 20/50 is another high ZDDP oil. It,s what I use in my El Camino along with a ACDELCO filter. My valvetrain is still all original. Brad Penn is made at the old Kendall oil refinery.

Scott Wheaton, mentioned above and another person both tested the new Brad Penn oil. Using different labs both found the Brad Penn oil to have VERY low zddp levels. In fact he stated the levels were about the same as the genaric Wal-Mart stuff. He didn't believe the levels could be so low so he tested again and got the same results.
Summit is now selling an oil with zddp levels around 1800ppm.

Napa filters could be made by WIX, I know AutoValue house brand filters are. They're probably not the same as a WIX Gold but are made by WIX.

Default NAPA/Wix

Yessir Hank. NAPA filters are made by Wix. I asked the owner of the NAPA stores in my area and he said yes.

probably should have changed the oil before 3000 miles after a fresh rebuild. just my 2 cents. I run full synthetic in all my rides with ACDELCO filters.

Default Steve is right

Yes Steve, you're right. It's actually been changed 3 or 4 times. Once after rear main replaced, new valve covers, after paint and after I got it home. Now I'm ready to change the oil and filter for some serious cruisin'

All the bugs are worked out now and I'm gonna take my bride of 38 years over to the coast for Clam Chowder.

But thanks for keeping me honest.

Randy
