Default Stereo and Speaker Upgrades

I am in the middle of installing a new stereo in Joan's vert and wondered if anyone here has ever put speakers in the rear kick panel just above the ashtray .I have some nice round 4 in white speakers that would fit but wonder how bad they would look .I really hate cutting holes where they should not be but need some rear speakers and the stock location behind the seat does not work well with the top down .

Flash are you talking about the rear side panels above the ash trays. Not a lot of room with the quarter window assembly in that area.

Yes ,that is the area I was considering but decided to put 6x9 speakers behind the seat in the factory location instead .I have them in place ,just need to tighten the screws and hook them up ,tidy up all the wires and put the seats back in and then we will be ready to ride. The stereo with MP3 player sounds good and was not very expensive ,I bought 3 of them for just over $120 total that were on clearance after Christmas .

I am so glad to hear that you didn't put them above the ash trays.

Amen to that, would not look good there. I was going to suggest behind the back seat area.

Actually the area was just below the ash tray that I was thinking about right next to the seat but I put 6x9 speakers behind the seat . Its 11 PM and I just got finished putting the finishing touches on the interior and it looks good .The stereo and new speakers sounds great and we have about 600 songs on the MP3 player so far so no need for the CD player in the trunk. While all the seats were out I cleaned the carpet and dyed the faded areas that looked so bad .We cant wait to take the vert to the car wash tomorrow evening and then go top down cruisin.

Miss Grumpy ,this vert kicked my ass getting it back together in time for us to go cruisin today ,I am so sore I can hardly move from all the unnatural positions I was in installing the speakers ,the stereo and getting it wired up and cleaned and seats back in .
