Default New Gas Tank Question?

I installed a new gas tank in my 1969 SS.
I don't have the vent lines running to the engine compartment so I plugged off the two ports on the tank and installed a vented cap. Will this work or do I need to add another vent on the ports on my tank?
Thanks!

I ran a additional vent on mine with one of the ports on the tank. It sits above the rear differential attached to the trunk pan.

So I won't have to use a vented cap now, is that correct?

I'm running both. And that is what I used to vent my tank.

I switched to the 70 up tank and used a fuel filter with a looped hose on the center vent port with a non vented cap.. No more fuel smell...
