Default Converters

Just a heads up, and I'm not making a dime from this either. When I built my chevelle, I bought a Freak show torq converter. I heard about them, done some research and even called Michael and talked to him personally. It's a 3500 with balloon plates, all for $329. I've put 2500 miles on it, been hard on it, and it has performed flawlessly. The other day I drained the fluid and it looks brand new, no smell or anything. There is no excessive heat even in 90 degree weather. The cheap price worried me, but Michael said if it didn't do what I wanted, he'd redo it or give me my money back. It is really good to see somebody trying to help the little guy out, and that is the only reason I'm posting this. Maybe it'll save someone a few bucks.

Converter acts great, take off, mid throttle you can stab it. It really surprised me because the last hi stall converter I ran on the street was quite a few yrs ago. I ran Coan when I raced, and I can't say enough about them. Art at Coan is a stand up guy and knows his stuff. I just couldn't see 7 or $800 on a street conv. After talking to him and researching on the net I decided to try 1. My cam is pretty big for the street, and this thing drives great. We put over 2000 miles on it last summer.

Awesome I will get at them see what they say for me. I've been there also ran a 3600 on the street like 15 years ago it was obnoxious to say the least but at 21 years old I and Gass being under a $1 a gallon I was ok with that lol

My chevelle has 3.55's, 850 QF, Q series carb, mech roller, 650 lift, and I get 13 mpg if I keep it around 60 on the road. I was expecting 6 mpg. I had a 6.0 gmc that wouldn't get that mileage.
