Body off frame ?
Has anyone got any tips on taking the body off the frame without a hoist.
I want to roll the complete frame engine trans rearend out from under the body. If i remove the doors and body metal interior etc how heavy is the shell.? Can i use heavy tie down straps attached to the joists in the garage. Any tips..or sugestions would be great. |

Engine host does works well. If you use joist in your garage put a 4x4 post up under them for support. The first shell I took off without the interior or doors on it I used 4 comealongs on each corner of the car body and lifted it that way with a support post on the interior side of the garage and the other two connected by the wall. At the body shop just 2 comealongs and did it this way.
Also a floor jack and blocks will work, invite 4 friends over and lift it off.

I kept jacking mine up using blocks on top of a floor jack with 4x4 across the front and back on block columns as pictured. It was sketchy solo. The body has to be really high for the frame to clear. I ended up taking the wheels off and lowered the frame then backed it out with a jack.
