I really like a LeMans, or really a GTO but this picture alone would have me scared. Is that rusted through on the driver quarter? What do the trunk pans & floor look like? My guess is, sitting under a tree, they are pretty bad but who knows.
Personally, I don't think it is worth it unless you get to pull the driveline from the Mazda to stick in this!

Fairly rare car, saw it on Facebook. (Pontiac Parts group) I feel from what I have seen, that car could go for $20K easy - fully redone. Is it worth $5K? Without seeing it in person, hard to say. I feel it is a $3500-$4000 car as is.
Pontiac has no "big block." lol They are all 39* bank, and share the same outside dimensions. (The 301 is an odd ball, low deck, etc.) I feel your RX7 is more turn key, sorted out, etc. And therefore worth double what that Lemans is worth in its current state. Take it FWIW... I'd love to have that Lemans GT, we have a spare 400. I'd redo it and make it more correct. Not many of them around anymore.

Do you want another project??? Rust is most likely more then what he is saying in the car. Are the quarters and floor pans available in after market parts. One would need to do some research first on what parts are available. Not worth 5k in my opinion. Does the engine even run? I have so many questions. Lol

Ray, the parts are available. We're doing a 72' Lemans Sport for my father currently. Pretty much everything has been available so far. The P O N T I A C script on the deck lid is the only thing I had to purchase used thus far. Much is interchangeable with other GM A Body cars.
