Gen light on
There are probably hundreds of possibilities here for causes but, I put on new alternator cause the bearings were shot in the old one. Now the "gen" light is on all the time. Any thoughts on common causes or where to start troubleshooting?

Are you sure the new alternator is putting out the right voltage ? Just because its new doesnt mean its not a bad alternator ,I got one from Autozone like that once. If Im not mistaken it should put out a little above 12 volts .Be a good place to start ,Good luck.

Flash, it should put out closer to 14 volts or a little over to force a charge back into the battery. A fully charged battery should put out close to 12.8 volts. At 12 volts it's really pretty discharged. They call them 12 volt batteries but they put out more. A 1.5 volt flashlight battery really put's out around 1.6 volts when new.
