Default Bench Checking a Tach

The motor was out of my car when I bought it and I don't know if my factory tach works. I'll need it to break in my cam. Is there anyway of bench testing it?

Thanks

Ron, the only thing I can think of is to hook up to a buddy's engine and see if it works.

I think Jake is right unless you have special test equipment.
