Glass scratches
Anyone ever had any luck having scratches repaired in glass? I've called several auto glass repair shops and nobody offers it. I see there are products sold but I suspect they don't work. I have some scratches in my door glass I'd like to buff out.

If you can fell them with you fingernail, you'll never "polish" them out correctly. Replacing glass is not that difficult or expensive.

There is a resin out there , I have seen it used before . but I would have to agree with replacing the window ,

I agree, scratch polishing kits only work on light scratches

is the new glass made today just as thick and heavy-any good suppliers out there? I had removed the glass to fix the rail and when I put it back in I realized I left a part out so I had to remove it again and that is when I scratched it! Pissed me off.

I have only replaced a back window, and the glass is different today.

I have heard "tooth paste" works on minor scratches. Never tried it so no personal experience.

You need a rotary polisher, Ceriglass polish, and some rayon glass pads... It would be cheaper to replace the glass if you do not have access to a rotary and the experience using it.
If you would like to know more, please let me know. Last edited by b0b; 08-09-2014 at 09:12 AM. |
