That's what I figured. I can't get at the rear of the block without pulling the motor. I don't have a welder at home but after it's running I might be able to try welding a bolt into it. Thanks for the tip.

Hopefully the plug is steel and not brass. If it's steel you should be able to weld a bolt to it. The block is cast iron so you don't have to worry about that.
