Default 1965 chevelle malibu SS deck lid / tail lamp area paint color.

Hi all...Want to thank in advance any help you all might give. Here goes... I have a 1965 Chevelle Malibu SS. I know car is original ss by VIN. I have owned the car since I was 15 years old...now 30 years later im looking to make it great. My question is..on the deck lid around the trim and around the tail lamps its painted silver. (rest of car is Midnight blue with 2 tone blue interior.). Paint looks original factory. I am trying to figure if this silver is correct???Other cars I see are body color or black in this area.

Default 1965 malibu ss deck lid

If you google 65 malibu ss it shows some cars with a silver back with the middle name plate painted same colour as body. So I think it is original.
