Default New Gauges

Hi everyone. I'll be back working on the Chevelle shortly and one project is to replace the sweep dash with a Metrom insert and new gauges.

I know nothing about gauges so I'm looking for suggestions. I saw some Autometer gauges that I thought looked good but that's about it.

Need speedometer, tach, fuel, temp, oil pressure and volts
Thanks

Thought I would add sizes. 3 3/8 for the speedometer and tach. 2 1/16 for the rest. And I prefer black.

You do know that Metrom is out of business don't you? I'd like to change out my sweep dash in my 70.

Ken, they are out of business but you can still get the inserts from The Parts Place. I ordered one and had it shipped to my brother's so he could verify the gauge sizes for me.

Any preference for electrical versus mechanical gauges for temp and oil pressure?

temp and oil should be mechanical.
also your speedo should be electronic programable.
Once you get the metrom wired up there is not much room behind it.
Your choice of gages should take into account how they look at night.
If you get LED lighting....perimiter etc on your gages you will need a led adapter

Thanks for the suggestions. I was deliberating between the mechanical and electronic speedometer. I think I'll flo electronic. I'm going to go with Sport Comp gauges.

On my 66 I went a different way. No gauges.
I monitor everything on my phone.
I finally caved and put in a gas gauge that looks like a tach because I couldn’t get fuel level to my phone. The fuel gauge is 3 3/8” and mounts on the custom console.
