Default Building material prices...wow!

I just finished clearing more land for a new building. Going to be a 36x24x10 pole barn type, for storage of the tractor and implements. 6x6 posts, steel trusses , 2x8 treated purlins and metal roof. I am surprised at the quotes that I've gotten. I'm going to have the posts set, trusses set and roof put on. I'll do the rest, as in gable ends, sidewalls, doors and windows, and electrical. Concrete will most likely be next year. They are all saying that the cost have skyrocketed due to the hurricane down here earlier this year. Shocked I tell ya.

Guess a hurricane will do that. We took a drive into the keys a couple weeks ago. Still piles of trash along the side of the road that hasn't been picked up. A lot of cleared land, not sure what was there before but it's gone now. New buildings going up already.

Got the building up. Have a guy coming today to shoot me a price on concrete. Killed a big rattlesnake last week. Almost six feet long. That makes four poisonous ones so far this year. Other three were cotton-mouths.

Concrete is done. Dug a 75 foot trench from the shop to the new building. Lots of tree roots. Have water line and conduit for wiring to it now.

Sounds like you're staying busy. Four poisonous snakes, wild boars and alligators. Talk about a home security system. Any other exciting critters around there?

Coyotes, bobcats, and a wolf. Not so much around the house now with the land cleared. I have a pretty good buffer zone from the woods and swamp now. Much more relaxed than I was . Snakes getting the dogs is still a concern though. I have a load of crushed concrete for a new driveway to the new building coming this morning. Lots of hand spreading headed my way.

All those critters, maybe you should open a petting zoo for the kiddies. You sure do like to work don't you.

Yes, I do like to work. Can't stand it when I'm not busy. Gravel didn't make it yesterday, should be here today. Cut down 3 more trees and moved some ground around with the tractor, so I kept busy.
