Just gathering parts, I have a few jobs to do that are in my way currently. Going to get his C10 finished up by the end of this week. Then paint the hood for the LeMans next week. After that, I should be able to start on my truck. And possibly get back to work on my 72' by the end of the year.

Thought some of you might find this interesting.

The hydoboost on my C3 exploded last weekend at Road Atlanta. Thankfully not while on track but in the paddock with the hood up and the engine off. It sounded like a shotgun went off when it happened. I was under the rear of the car looking at my half shafts and thought the front tire popped.

Crazy...

When the cylinder blew off, it had enough force to crack the reinforced section of the hood completely through and spider the paint on the top side

Replaced the front anti-sway bar on the motorhome with a heavier duty one. Checked oil level in front hubs. It's down to minimum level so guess I'll have go get some. Need to check level in diff, maybe today if it stops raining.

Wow on the hydroboost eric.
Ive worked on quite a few over the years and never seen that happen.
Thats the accumulator cylinder that blew off correct?
Gota be a bad check valve that didnt bleed pressure down
But would love to know for sure.
Please let us know what you find out.

Honestly don't know what happened. Obviously the casting cracked and allowed the accumulator to rocket off, but as to why is a guess at this point.

I am now in the process of going back quite a few decades in technology and converting to manual brakes on that car. Don't want to run a booster and the manual pedal feel should be better at the track anyway.

Definitely could have been bad if I had been working around the front of the car! The vette always draws a crowd at the track so also good no spectators were standing around when it went off. Also thankful all that power steering fluid did not catch fire on the headers!

Yeah, this is a first for me as well... I found the blue internal valve laying behind the motor once I started cleaning up. Did not appear to be damaged so not really sure what happened.

Sounds like it was just a bad casting. If it was a good casting how much pressure would it take to blow it apart? I'm thinking one hell of a lot.

Wife hooked up the car trailer today, but forgot to lock it down. Might need a new tailgate now. Glad the car was not on it. Was unloading the utility trailer that was on it, when it came off in down sloped driveway.

Ouch! That's a mistake you, hopefully, only make once in life.
