Can anybody tell me what the components are in this photo?

The crusty one to the left looks like a horn relay.
|
Were would horn relay be located?
I am looking for a A/C relay- its 3 wire. Purple,Blue, Orange(power feed to 12v batt.) Located under hood near evap box. Ambient sensor- 2 wire. Tan, Green Located under hood in the evap box area? I need the part numbers to order them. They need to connect to my A/C harness. There the last two components needed to have everything plugged in! |
I found that GM part number #3917359 & 483326 are the heater & A/C Ambient Switch I am looking for. I have scanned ebay and the NOS part suppliers and it seems they all want around $100.00 for one of these! Are there any other sources?

Chipping away. Have most the electrical working. Just finished replacing the seals on the output shaft of power steering box. It was leaking like a sieve. Now I can turn! Its the Grand Cherokee steering box. Getting ready to go for a ride around the block.

Horn relay left front by the grille. You can see it in this picture
|
I must not have a horn relay on my American Auto wire classic update harness. Everything on my engine harness had a home. I guess I should test my horn!
Quick question about mounting my headlamps. Cant find were my springs mount to? The manual only shows one spring and only shows were it mounts to the bucket. But cant find a anchor point on the other end. |
I have a spare core support. Let me see if that stuff is intact, and I will try to get some close up pictures with my phone.

Its looking good ,close to cruising .
|
Looks good, I don't think you can put the grille in with the front bumper on. The 72 grille has the plastic part that goes under the bumper.

Can anybody share a photo of the location of the tether screw that holds the cable for hood pins? I found two photos and each were in a different location. I would like to figure out were they mounted from the factory.

Heres my location.

OK< Thanks! It looks like most the photos I have seen there mounted in one general area, but not one specific. I got it. Thanks again.
Any idea what size thread the bolt for the lower dash frame mounts? Its the bolt that is at the very bottom, closest to the kick panels? There are two. One on L & R sides of dash |
I believe they are 5/16-18 thread Joe.
|
Joe ,you gonna be cruisin by Christmas ?
|
They were 1/4-20 X 3/4" long
I hope to be cruising by Thanksgiving. Should be able to drive it to the muffler shop down the street on Monday or Tuesday coming. Going to try and get to DMV for tags today. Dash and wiring are about 98% done. After I get the exhaust done, I need to hunt down some water leaks. I don't want to install the carpet and have it getting wet and not know about it (rust) but all in all, I could be driving it daily in a week!!!! |
Joe ,I know its not completely done but CONGRATS on a great build ,it has been fun watching you through pictures .You came a long way in a fairly short period of time ,good job.
|
X-2 what John said.
|
Looks like mine are in about the same location as Ken's. Also a semi white clear clip is what they came with. The after market ones sell you brown. Lowes has the correct size clip if you want them.
|
What clip you referring to?
Thanks guys for all the help, advice and compliments. I come out in the mornings and drink my coffee in amazement of all the work/ time has come together. The morning coffee view http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/11/16/2equ8y6u.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
And a very nice view it is .
|
I agrre with Flash your car is looking good. The cable is held on the front core support with a small clip that hooks to loop on the end of the cable. The size of the hole for the clip tells you what screw you need. Unless 72 didn't use the clip.
|
Gotch ya on the clips. Mine are brown. :(
Worked on the car 4-5 hours Saturday and getting ready to spend my Sunday on it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Looking great...well done sir.!
|
Thank you. Sunday was well spent as I was able to go for a ride around the hood when I finished. Looks like insurance co. and DMV in the morning. :)

Looks fantastic Joe. Jealous that you can drive it still. Weather is a bit chilly here.

Thanks Ms.Grumpy. As I sit in my shorts on the side deck of the house grilling steaks. I look into my empty garage. Because I was able to get the tags and insurance & drove it down and left it at the muffler shop. There doing a full welded 2 1/2" dual system with a X pipe. Cant wait to pick it up.
It needs a little tuning. Just set timing by ear. It was missing slightly under light load. High load and idle it runs smooth. I would guess fuel related. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
It must have been warmer at your place yesterday than at our house ,I had long sleeves on all day ,even cooler today.
|
Ya it was very nice. Cold front is coming in. Going to get down in low 50's
Well the exhaust came out sweet. I am quite pleased overall. I just would of liked it a bit louder.:) But its a small motor. :( Tomorrow installing the new front shocks and wheels! And try to get it aligned. It goes good straight but darts quickly with just a slight turn of the wheel. But Im liking the Jeep gearbox from what Iam felling already. |
Back from the alignment shop. Next its get hvac working properly. Then I can remove the bumper and get the grill installed.
http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/11/23/amy5ymen.jpg Need some help with wipers. Seems both sets Ray sent me have 2 arms on the left side. My car must be missing a pin to connect the smaller flat arm. All I have is a splined round male end. With a hole next to it that looks to be the diameter of said pin. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/11/23/juqudady.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Man ,it looks even better outside in the natural light .I will try to look at my wipers and see what it looks like tomorrow.
|
Cant wait till I get the Heavy Chevy stripes on it. How hard of a job is it too install them? Do you spray them with water and get them positioned and squeegee out the air bubbles?

That sounds right ,we did my Trans Am hood bird that way .

Look at you wiper motor, the concealed wiper motor is round and tubular shaped. I believe the non-concealed motor is rectangular. Also if you posts that your wipers attach to looks the same on the left and the right when you have the non concealed wipers.
Concealed wipers have a two-piece arm for the driver's wiper; the second piece is smaller, thinner, and is more-or-less parallel to the main arm. The secondary arm pivots off a pin at the cowl area. See photo Non-concealed wipers have a driver's arm that is similar to the passenger arm in that there's the main arm and no secondary arm. In 72 if it was a Malibu or a SS car it had the hidden wipers. The base Chevelle models came the other way. Non hidden. The non hidden cars have a different stainless trim below the windshield. It was a thinner piece, not as tall so to speak. So look at your stainless trim, it will measure 3" high in the center or 3-1/8" high on the ends if the car came with hidden wipers. I believe I have an extra hidden wiper transmission arm, but you would have to change your motor if it the wrong one. |
Does your VIN start with 134, or 137?
It's going to look killer with those stripes. I would really like to build one. But, have my sights set on a 69' two door hard top next. |
The stainless on the hidden wiper has a stop at the bottom for the wiper to sit on.
If you convert to hidden system you would need a new motor, transmission arm, stainless strip, and wiper switch |
