Since last time... I replaced the seat bottom on my Tahoe. I redid the headliner and changed the pump/rack in my Silverado. I took the bed and rear bumper off of my 4wd GMC. Going to replace a crossmember and brake lines while it is apart. (Rusty truck from NH) Cab corners and rocker panel replacement next. Cab corners are nice, but I have to cut them off to get at the rockers. Dreading that job...
|
Washed and waxed my truck. Re-installed the pro comp alloy wheels. Then I drove it with a big smile on my face.

Got the frame repairs almost finished. Having to replace the fuel lines and pump assembly too. More money that I did not want to spend.

Is that a Florida vehicle Brian?

I have been on vacation this week, using the time to do an engine/transmission swap in my father's truck for him. Close to done, but running out of time.
|
Not a damn thing. Just saying.
|
Been pecking at the GMC in my spare time... replaced all brake lines, rotors & calipers, master cylinder. New fuel lines, pump assembly, and filler neck. New spark plugs yesterday, it fired right up and ran smooth as silk. Going to dive into the rockers and cab corners this week coming. (I am on "vacation" the 10th - 16th) Might as well get it done....

Ain't done nothing. Weather here has sucked. 80 degrees last weekend, in the 20's over night last night. Once we get some nice weather, for more than 1 day, I guess I'll try to get the boat running. Hasn't been run in years but our daughter lives on a lake. I can put it in there and use when I want.
|
I hear you. I bought begonias today because the frost over the last 2 days killed them. I haven't started my boat either.
Boat dock isnt in and the river is still flooded. Last year by now I blew up the boats motor and was putting in the warentee motor by now. |

Mother nature is being a bitch. The corona virus keeps you at home and the weather keeps you inside. Guess we pissed her off. |

I did yardwork today. LOL weed whacker was idling sounded fine and locked slick up. I went ad got a new one. Old one was in the garbage at the curb I got it running it lasted 11 years so no complaints with it. She was a faithful ol girl for alot longer than I expected. River is going down so maybe the dock will go in. It is going to be 80 it says tomorrow. I replanted the begonias that froze. I put the old ones in back by the drive in case the live. I will water them. I am with you on the corona virus thing. It is over. Wife is a nurse. No new cases at all almost. All the old ones are healing and going home. The early ones that were fatalities went fast in the beginning. It really seems if it was going to get you. It already did. For the rest of us it isnt as bad. I still havent started the boat tho. Once the dock is in and the temps are right. It is supposed to rain for 2 weeks. Like you said Mother nature is pissed. I don't know what i did but i swear i am sorry. Hope you all feel fine and are safe. I got the money for the motor now. I am waiting to see how this virus nonsense plays out. Dont want to spend the money then need it because the economy took a dump over this. Car been close to 20 years now in the making another 6 months or so on this wont hurt nothing. |
Well the economy already took a dump. How many businesses that were forced to close will even reopen? If restaurants can open at only 25% or 50% capacity, how long can they manage that? They're leases or mortgage payments aren't going to be cut to 25% or 50%. Property taxes, insurance and other fixed costs won't be cut. Even if they do open all the way, how many people will feel safe going there?
I think the virus is real, but I worry more about what this country will look like going forward. Our county has a very low infection rate so I'm not worried about catching it. Other parts of MI are a lot different. Brighton usually has a high volume of traffic downtown, lot's of restaurants and small businesses. Drive there now and it looks like a ghost town. Guess we'll have to wait and see. |
They have made choices that will destroy the country. But this is normal for the system. They get their money is all they care about. The little guy can lay in waste.

NO! I painted the living room and dining room in our house. Ripped out the carpet and padding and put down new flooring. Now it's time to move outside, if the weather would cooperate. She needs some new door walls and windows but I'm not doing that. Plus she hasn't been working, 1 day last week and 1 this week. So she doesn't have the money to do all the things she wants.
You still in FL? If so good, it sucks here. Lousy weather and most places closed. |
You have to be getting close to done on your place. It is almost a brand new place!
I am back here. Got home wed. Would much rather be back down there in the woods. |
Inside is pretty much all done, well we are going to replace some door walls.
I hear you, most places are still closed. Did you bring your barber with you? My hair is going to look like your's pretty soon. Island Lake gun range opened up, think I'll go blow off some steam this week. Today is supposed to be nice, maybe take the Chevelle out. Going stir crazy here. |
My barber lady is coming to the shop this morning. I cut it myself a couple of times and Kathy trimmed it when we were in Florida.
I shot more ammo this year than I have in a while. Built a new bullet trap. Works great. Bought a Desert Eagle 44 mag. Man, what a hoot! Kathy bought a Sig 380. Very nice piece. She is a hell of a good shot!. Got most of my weapons here out of hiding, ready for the shit to start. I'm starting to run a little low on ammo. Only about twenty thousand rounds left. Hoping to see some on sale shortly. Got most of the deck shit out of the storage garage this morning. Supposed to get another two and a half inchs of rain tommorow and monday. Pond is almost overflowing now. Started all 3 cars up yesterday. All fired right up and sound gooood!! |
Kathy is barber I was referring to. Desert Eagle, for some reason I thought you were more of a revolver guy.
20,000 rounds, you better get stocked up. Some people are getting crazy out there. Did you hear about that security guard in Flint that was killed. He stopped a women and her daughter from going into a store because they weren't wearing masks. Her husband and son came back later and shot him in the back of the head. Was cloudy almost all day yesterday. Kept looking like rain. Power washed the deck and got some of our stuff out too. How's my Nova doing? |
Pretty sad about the security guard. A friend of mine is on the SWAT Team that captured the father of the actual shooter in Bay City. Typical hood rats. No respect for human life.
You need to come up here and get "your" Nova all shined up. Has some cob-webs under it from sitting. Kathy's Cadilac had a dead battery this year. Original one, so to be expected. I went to Interstate and got a new one. It was dead the next day. Took it back and turns out that I get the one out of ten thousand that are bad from day one. Not a lot of rain here, just enough to make it shitty. |
If the store requires masks and you don't want to wear one, go some place else. Not too many stores say no firearms but if they do I turn around, it's pretty simple. It's their business they can run it how they want.
Was about the same here. Sprinkles, light rain on and off all day. Got up to a whopping 58 degrees. Saturday was nothing like they were predicting. They need to fire all these weather guessers. If you want to know what happened yesterday you can ask one. If you want to know what's going to happen tomorrow, wait until tomorrow. I'm getting sick of this weather. It's almost Memorial Day. We should be enjoying 70 degree weather. |
So what do you think of this 1,800 page stimulus bill the house passed? How long is it going to take the senate to cross out all the crap they don't want. They want to send me another $2400. A "Stimulus" check? I don't need it and can't go anywhere to spend it. How about sending the money to the people that really need it. Maybe use it to save some of the small businesses that are going to go under without help. They want to extend that extra $600 unemployment benefits even longer. When businesses start to open back up. where are they going to get employees? People are making more money being unemployed then they were when working. It's stupid! Throw enough money around in every direction and everything will be fine.
|
Agree with you Hank. How anyone could support ANY democrat now is crazy. I am so sick and tired of hearing all the shit that they have pulled and no one is being held accountable.
|
Didn't get anything I wanted to done on my week off. Been battling issues with my fathers Sierra since the swap. (Last November) Turns out I got the one 60E to 80E conversion harness that was bad. New one on the way... this better fix it. I have been run ragged testing the wiring in the truck and replacing parts in the transmission.
|
Ended up changing the transmission in his truck. (I just LOVE doing $h!+ twice!) I had a few spares, put the one in with nasty looking fluid, has all gears and shifts like a dream - go figure! I flushed it and installed a new filter/pan gasket today. Going to dial it in more tomorrow. The engine sounds really healthy, should be plenty to get him in trouble.

Im about to do the 3rd headliner on my jeep.

This time im going with the stuff at the online headliner store. When i worked in the body shop we did hundreds of headliners Never did i have one fail like this. |
Let me know your results, I need a solution.
|
I worked on the boat. Hull and top are white, then some red. Sides are black. Well they used to be they turned gray from oxidation. Wheeled out one side with Meguirs cutting compound, turned out pretty good but it's a lot of work. I'll work on the other side next week, when it's going to close to 90 all week.
|
It is alot of work but so worth it.
|
Back to work on the 4wd GMC Sierra, the rear brakes are giving me trouble. I moved up the rear axle swap. Not going to put any money into the drum brakes on the 10 bolt. Swapping in a 14 bolt semi floater 9.5" ring gear light duty rear axle. Got the 10 bolt out today, and the 14 bolt SF rear set up the truck. Got to get it bolted in and then tear it down for the posi/gear swap. After that, rockers and cab corners.
|
Found some headliner glue that works.
Its called DAP weldwood and comes in gallon or 5 gallon. You have to use a spray gun. On the can its not for sale in calif and for pro use only....go figure. |
Mine has been sitting I storage since we moved, 5 months ago. still waiting for carpets and kitchen cabinets to arrive so we can move in. Hoping by August 1st to finally move in. Then a new shop is the next project.
|
Opened the distributor up the other day. Pulled the vacuum advance off and sprayed everything with WD40. Cruising at a steady speed the car would buck a lot. Centrifugal advance shouldn't cause that, it reacts to engine rpm. Vacuum advance seemed fine but that's all I could think of. It should react to changes in vacuum, not rpm.
Anyway it seems better now. Idle drops down to where it should. Last year it would hang up at different rpms. Replaced the centrifugal advance but that didn't help. So anyway, all good now or at least for now. |
I have been working on the boat too. Had it running after replacing carb. Had to stop because water pump in outdrive was shot. Pulled the lower unit off and rebuilt the pump. Started it up to tune the carb and set the timing. Carb leaked fuel onto manifold, had to stop again. Rebuilding throttle control, won't go into throttle only. Hard to start when you can't run the throttle up some.
|
I had to redo the throttle on mine to. 2 little plastic parts need replaced. Works like new.
