Day off, so I went and shuffled around a few vehicles at my folks. That allowed me to put the doors off of my old truck in the shop. I got both of them sanded down and some filler spread on two spots. I'll mask them both, finish the body work, and prime them over the weekend.

Oh, and because I know everyone loves pictures...
This was inside the driver's door. I didn't see it, and had my hand in the door to fish out a bolt I dropped. It hit my hand and I almost ripped my hand off trying to get it out of the door. It's funny now, but at the time I was panicking. |
Dang!! Looks like he built his web out of 1/4" round stock! I would be in panic mode too!

Doors are in primer, masked off, etc. The jamb side is ready for some color, but the weather isn't playing along today. I'm hoping to get them completely painted this coming week.

Barely touched 70* today, made a last minute decision around 2 PM to lay on some paint. Came out decent, I'll let them dry the next two days and flip them over Friday morning.

Have been doing some research on rear bumpers, supposedly the stepside is the same as one from an SUV. Scored a nice, used bumper off of craigslist last night.
My father purchased a complete stepside bed with the bumper a few weeks ago. I brought the bumper with me today and compared it to his after lunch. Nearly identical, I had to remove two small plates that were riveted on after I pulled off the plastic trim. This was the last piece of that puzzle. Now if I can get the bed painted before the weather turns cold on a regular basis. |
