yeah i didnt do that but the the final straw was when i got everything together it wasnt lining up and then i looked at the wheel cylinder and found that it was completely wrong its about 1 inch longer then the stock one. I spent $158 bucks on all my parts i and tools i am going to return all of it i am so up set over it!

Drove the '67 to a local cruise night and out for dinner last evening...the first miles on the new engine.
Ran perfect...and NO leaks!
Amazing what losing 100 cubes and a big double pumper carb will do for gas mileage. This 396 with the Qjet used about 1/3 of what I would have burned with last year's engine.

flash 04-01-2012 09:25 AM

Good to hear ,how was the cruise in ? I didnt feel up to going as I screwed up my shoulder and back at work on friday.

BillsCamino 04-01-2012 09:58 AM

Sorry to hear about your injury John.

The Acworth cruise was PACKED!! A beautiful night...saw Dewayne and Gwen there too. I looked for you and Joan...also thought I'd FINALLY meet up with Eric. ;)

shadowgray396 04-01-2012 09:19 PM

Hope it's not serious John. Glad to here the 67 ran good for you Bill.

Funny thing is, I picked up 141 cubes and GAINED mpg on the highway compared to the small-block! I managed 16 mpg doing 80+ on the way back from Columbus last weekend on the motors break-in run! Completely blew me away! I am sure city will be another story...

Yeah, I was at the speed shop tinkering on my car again. The thing keeps throwing alternator belts so I finally made the decision to ditch the March bracket and go with the factory set up (just don't like how it looks.) Should have nearly everything wrapped up by the end of this week, including A/C so I will be ready to hit the local shows again!

John,

I have a storage bin with two complete brake & spindle assemblies ready to go. I'll plan on bringing them to the Peach State show unless you decide you want them before.

shadowgray396 04-06-2012 05:44 PM

Took my clutch fan over to my motor today so we can fire it one more time before putting it back in the car. Plan to paint the motor next week.

We went to a cruise in today ,the first one this year for us.It was good to get back in the cruising frame of mind and enjoy this beautiful weather.

Bowtie-Bri 04-10-2012 11:20 PM

I pulled off the aluminum intake I put on 2 years ago. I'm putting the original stock cast iron intake back on. I also pulled the sub boxes out of the trunk. I decided to put the trunk back to stock. Bowtie smiley

Ms Grumpy 04-11-2012 01:24 PM

I thought about my car today. Just so involved with doing the fest and other things that I don't have a lot of time. grumpy has plans for this weekend, so there goes any plans I might have made.

BillsCamino 04-11-2012 04:25 PM

Changed master cylinders today after work...the one that I replaced today was for a 4 wheel disc car...which my '67 was until recently.
Had to go back to rear drums when changing to the 15" steelie wheels/dog dish caps.
The Chevelle is running good with it's new engine...I'm pleased with the combo.

Monte666 04-11-2012 09:45 PM

Picked up my exhaust manifolds from the sand blaster yesterday, it was taking forever with my little machine. And ordered the correct horn from Gary @ The Horn Works. I am off all weekend, hoping to get more done on the engine bay.

flash 04-12-2012 01:45 PM

Went home at lunch and got the 72 vert out for the evening ,its a little cool for the top down today but I could not resist. Maybe tomorrow I can get the Ekly out at lunch.

shadowgray396 04-12-2012 10:37 PM

Went to the swap meet today and got an original 70 window washer bottle and a spare SS emblem for the grille. Also found a spare set of calipher brackets and core support brackets. All for less then $50

flash 04-12-2012 10:39 PM

Drove the Chevelle ,the El Camino and the 55 Bel Air and even had time to play with the tractor some.

grandsport 04-12-2012 10:47 PM

Mine has been neglected the past few weeks.

flash 04-13-2012 06:52 PM

I just walked in the shop and looked at them this evening ,no time for playing with cars ,had to play with the tractor instead.

Ray, it sounds like you had a good day yesterday.

Personally, I just opened the garage and looked at mine while I got out the power washer to take to my brothers. I think she is feeling neglected.

69chevelless 04-14-2012 07:57 AM

I need to go check on mine this weekend and see how the resto process is going. I need that thing done ASAP

BillsCamino 04-14-2012 10:02 AM

Awesome weather!
Probably load up the two grand girls and head out to a local cruise tonight with the '67.
Mandatory ice cream stop on the way home...;)

flash 04-14-2012 06:01 PM

We got the vert out and just cruised a few back roads as we didnt know of a cruise in close by .We have lost track of when all the good cruise ins are now days ,went to Cartersville last week but it turned out to not be the official cruise in . We had a great ride with the top down with this perfect weather we are having.

BillsCamino 04-14-2012 08:29 PM

Finally found some motivation and spare time after work today. Please excuse the lousy cell phone pictures.

Here is what I had done a few weeks back...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...6/DSC00462.jpg

And what I was up to today, disassembly of the steering components. Out with the old...

More room to work.

Sandblasted the sway bar and brackets. Still have a few spots on the sway bar to touch up tomorrow. And need to dust over the end links.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...6/DSC00467.jpg

I am off tomorrow, hoping I can knock out a lot of the cleaning and prep. I need to get on a tear and get this engine bay ready, it's been long enough.

flash 04-16-2012 07:45 PM

You must have a power weed wacker to get that all done in one evening.
