smokenjoep01 12-11-2013 07:20 AM

Thank you all very much. I had a lot of help from yall! Cars running great ;)
Ive looked over and over. Cant find any holes to mount squirters. Could somebody take a good photo of there placement and post it for my ignorant ass?

Im looking forward to those pics as well ,I never put them on our convertible .

smokenjoep01 12-11-2013 07:07 PM

Ive got no holes in my repop hood. Im defiantly going to have to drill a couple holes for the self tappers to start that came with the squirters.
Anyone kind enough to take a picture of there squirters? ;)

Ok here we go. I have a cowl induction hood.

On my hood on the left it goes in a indentation under the hood. Also notice the larger hole next to it.
http://chevelleforum.org/picture.php...pictureid=3751

My right side is not on, because I need to remove the hood to take my screen off to install the squirter. Note same size hole just right of the smaller hole.

Hope this helps

Found this picture of a cowl hood, notice where the hoses are going to the quirters. Looks like about the same area.

Productive weekend.
Swapped in another set of front coil springs.
Got the wiper squirters mounted and squirting ( thanks Ray)
Aimed the head lights
Pulled inner fender and got the blower motor connected. Now I have heat!
And got the nitrous system set up.
Got motivated :)
Just waiting for some parts for the A/C system to get that finished. Then I think I can get started buttoning up the interior. :)

I was hoping that YouTube video would be of your car destroying a set of tires.

mestorod70 12-17-2013 09:20 AM

Just a word about your nitrous test joe.
Dont forget to crank the engine withOUT spark to clear out the cylinders
Before starting after the test.
And dont hit the squeeze under 3000rpm.
Dont ask how i know this....lol lol.
Have fun...its adictive.

smokenjoep01 12-18-2013 06:17 AM

Thanks. Yes nitrous is fun. Ive been using it on my dragbike about 10 years. Spraying a bike with a 100 shot is fun!

After all that work? Wow, doubt I would react well. I hope whoever did that didn't just drive off.

flash 12-21-2013 09:57 AM

Damn careless drivers ,man I hate it for you but it could have been much worse .

shadowgray396 12-21-2013 12:43 PM

So sorry to hear about that. I would come unglued if someone backed into mine.

Bdubya 12-21-2013 03:54 PM

That sucks. Noone can hit a daily driver. Hope the culprit owned up.

smokenjoep01 01-06-2014 10:11 AM

Im just happy that they came and let me know they did it. There insurance co came out and looked it over. Based on my body guys estimate its right at 2k to get a inner fender and outer fender replaced turn key job.
We will see what there numbers are.

Its still hard to look at that picture after all you went through to restore that beauty but it will be good as new again .

smokenjoep01 01-12-2014 08:59 AM

Its really a blessing afterall. The insurance company's estimate was more than my guys estimate.
After all the painter issues the first round. And some blemishes that they could of been avoided. I had a different shop look it over.
The new shop is not only going to repair the fender collision work, but repair/align/adjust ALL the body and paint blemishes. The shop owner couldn't do anything but get it 100% no matter what my budget was. Real good guys with great referances. There gonna start on it Tuesday and have it back to me Friday. And the insr. Co. Is paying for a rental car.
I couldn't be happier with this 72 daily driver ;)

Glad to hear it worked out for you. Post some pictures when you get it back.

flash 01-12-2014 07:39 PM

Good deal on the new shop getting to it ,hope you have it back quickly .

smokenjoep01 01-13-2014 09:06 AM

Had to remove my fuel tank this weekend. Its got a lot of fine rust clogging the filter and my fuel gauge will only go to half tank.
Seems the float arm on both senders is not located off center of the filler tube. I need to find a proper sender and need a new tank. Rinsed it out for now, but will order one to put in as soon as it gets back from the body shop.

Why not try Hinshaws........they're pretty reasonable.

flash 01-13-2014 11:16 AM

Or if you have a radiator shop nearby they can boil it out and coat the inside .

smokenjoep01 01-15-2014 06:47 AM

Ground up SS396 has tanks on sale for 99.00
Can anybody speak of there quality? They say improved quality

shadowgray396 01-15-2014 07:36 AM

I got a spectra tank from rockauto.com. When I was looking everyone recommended this tank. I always had good luck with Ground Up and I know several people who have there old tanks and never had any problems.

smokenjoep01 01-25-2014 04:05 PM

I went with the one from ground up. Doing the install Asap.
My car came back from body shop and I am very happy.
They installed new hood hinges, did the bodywork and painted and installed my rear valance.
Re painted the entire hood. It needed detail body work and some chips repaired.
The very lower part of the body along the entire sides was missed by original painter. He didn't bend over enough ;) These guys painted it. The all aftermarket front end is a challenge to get lined up. Hood, fenders, fender extensions, bumper, grille! Dam. Its really looking good. Just a bit more tweaking when it warms up out.

Be good as new again with the stripe back on ,I really like it.

Ms Grumpy 01-25-2014 06:12 PM

Looks nice. I just love the Heavy Chevy decals.

shadowgray396 01-25-2014 06:56 PM

Looks good. Always nice to get them back. Watch that hood hinge, most of the after market ones I have seen are junk. If the other hinge was original and not bent it can be rebuilt.

Best guy around for hood hinge and door hinge repair.

http://www.hoodhingerepair.com/

smokenjoep01 01-26-2014 05:57 AM

The hinges seem ok for now. I will keep my stock ones. I also have original fenders and bumpers hanging around. I was going to scrap em. Is there something I should do with them instead?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

flash 01-26-2014 07:56 AM

I would hang them on the wall or store them somewhere .

smokenjoep01 01-28-2014 09:06 PM

Got the stripe on and wheel opening moldings. Also I installed a couple relays that turn off the headlights when I turn off the ignition. Could never remember to do it.

Another big score was I went to a guys glass shop that has a couple old chevelles out back. I was able to look at his doors and find a home for all my left over hardware. Also the big find was the part I need for the fresh air flapper in the cowl.

shadowgray396 01-29-2014 07:15 PM

Does look good again. I have about 2 bags full of the same hardware laying around.

flash 01-29-2014 08:17 PM

I have so many spare parts of all kinds hanging around for Chevelle's ,El Camino and 72 Chevy trucks .Once my truck is done I am going to thin some things out.

smokenjoep01 02-16-2014 09:00 AM

Got the windows all adjusted and car is now 98% water tight. Small leak in trunk area. Then I can start on interior.
Started adding hush matt. Last night.
And finally got my cowl A/C flapper installed.

Leak in the trunk, most likely in the corner of the back window area.
