Dash lights tonight, looks like the intermediate harness might be bad. tail lights work fine with a jumper wire from the wire before the harness. I hope it's not bad, to replace it means removing half the interior out of the car.

Maybe it is just the camera but your dash lights look to be much brighter than mine!

Are you using the electronic Wells VR-715 regulator?? Looks like and hooks up just like the old style points type reg but MUCH more reliable. ;) |
Looking good Ray.
|
I had to go drop my T/A wheels off to get new tires installed so I didnt even get to visit my shop to see the Chevelle today. I did briefly visit the body shop on my way to the tire shop and got a pleasant surprise.
|
Victory tonight, all lights work on the outside of the car. The intermediate harness harness works. Finally got the connection working tonight. Need to get the dome light working, once I get all the door switches replaced. Small steps at a time each night.

Haven't touched it. :( Busy with work, etc. It has been raining the past three days as well. Not looking any better for tomorrow, so possibly Friday?
The transaction for the sale of my Camaro SS will be done at the end of next month. I expect to get a lot done after that. It will free up some cash, and make more room. I am considering selling my truck too, I can't justify having all of these vehicles. If I do that, I may just drive the Monte Carlo for a while. It gets about 19-20 MPG, runs on regular gas, has cold AC, and EFI. It would be nice to be down to two cars vs. having 3-4. Insurance, maintenance, and vehicle registrations are killing me. |

I just went out and looked at ours today after work ,too tired for anything else.
|
Picked up the air conditioning unit, bracket and faceplate last night. The EFI came today, just waiting on the pulleys. Hopefully they will be here before the weekend so the work can get started.
|
Friday is the day I'm finally going to paint my motor.
|
Went to paint motor today and my friends shop was tied up and my motor was still sitting on the test breakin engine stand and not on engine stand for me to be able to paint it. I'm bummed. I want this car done in a month. At this rate it's not going to make it. I hate having to wait on other people.
|
I put the stock intake back on, and changed the oil before firing up today. When I started up the velle, it started blowing anti freeze all over the engine. It turned out, I didn't tighten the bolts on the goose neck. I went into the garage after work tonight and there was another mess under the car. Yep, oil all over the floor under the car. I had an idea what it was. I went to the garbage can and looked at the old oil filter and confirmed my thoughts. The seal was missing from the filter. So, when you change your oil, be sure that the seal in still on the old filter and not stuck on the engine like mine was. :(

I loaded up Joan and two of our boys and went to Year One for the Braselton Bash and the end of the Bandit Run which was a bunch of Trans Ams re running the trip from Texarkana to Braselton Ga sort of like in the movie Smokie and the Bandit.Top down cruisin there and back ,boy did we have fun.
|
We had to replaced the Demon Carb with a new one and now its sitting in the shop waiting for Disk brakes and a new cam and lifters.

Had to head back to NPD. Got the mounting plates for the wrong side of the engine. And returned faceplate we bought, because the air conditioning actually uses the "non a/c" faceplate. Since I had to return the a/c faceplate, I decided that I would replace the faceplate that I had....and I even got a dollar back.
|
We all had a blast at Yearone ,we got them a behind the scenes tour and they got to see some movie cars in back. I turned the camera over to the boys so Im not sure what kind of pics we got.
|
Loaded mine on the trailer tonight to get ready for the big move to the new shop on Tuesday.
|
::sigh:: Only got an hour in after work tonight. Managed to degrease both upper arms and get one stripped.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...886/72LS5p.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...886/72LS5q.jpg I am off tomorrow, hoping I can put a big dent in my work load. |
Took some more parts to my brothers house. Still waiting on a couple pullies for the a/c.
|
I finally got mine out for the first time this year, since I got the Camaro I've been driving that and really enjoying it, but now that I got the Chevelle out I forgot how much fun it is to drive....It has over twice the HP and TQ than the Camaro which makes the fun factor twice as fun.
I'm lucky to have both cars running and get to enjoy them in different ways. Also, I got pulled over in the Camaro for having a tail light burned out the other evening...I wonder if Tony is going to cover that under warranty as well as the clock not working (ha). I'm sure we talked about a 5 year unlimited miles bumper to bumper warranty when I bought it. Bowtie smiley |
Of course I will cover that bulb. I picked up around 100 NOS 1157 bulbs from my friend Tony D. Come on over and get you some of them. Now, about that non-working clock...the wind -up pocket watch is still here.
Glad the Chevelle is doing alright for you. |
Put in a solid 5-6 hours today, overall I feel like I had a productive day.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...886/72LS5r.jpg One down... three more to go. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...886/72LS5s.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...886/72LS5t.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...886/72LS5u.jpg |
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...886/72LS5v.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...886/72LS5w.jpg Did some "cad plating" with specialty paint to a few parts. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...886/72LS5x.jpg I need to get back to work on the cross member and frame rails ASAP. Before I know it, I'll have all of these parts cleaned & painted - but nowhere to put them. |
That's looking very nice. The fun part is putting all the clean parts back on.
|
It's a "krylon rebuild", as I've been told. But, I just don't have the space, or resources to do a 1000 point resto. As everyone can see, I am working on the car in a carport. I won't bore everyone with the details, I will just say that the economy has kicked me in the teeth since 2009. I no longer own a home, and make about 1/3 of what I used to. Just doing the best I can right now, and trying to do this automobile the justice it deserves.
Thanks for all of the kind words and encouragement, it really does help. :) |
Looks good. Keep at it, it'll be done before you know it.
|
Hoping to bring mine back home this week for the first time in.....I don't really even know, a month or so maybe. The neighbor thought I sold the car some time last year because of all the time it has spent away from the house having projects finished....
|
Took the "right" dipstick over to my brothers house, this will stop the leak from using a universal dipstick. Air conditioning has been partially installed so that the hoses can be measured and crimped.
|
Got my original caliphers rebuilt and recieved them back today
http://i777.photobucket.com/albums/y...phers005-1.jpg |
Who did you have rebuild the calipers Ray?
Not much new to report, the other lower control arm is stripped and primered. Washed the rubber bushings for the end links in soapy water, and assembled the end links. Spent about 2.5 hours out in the shop today. Still need to work on the frame and finish stripping the other upper control arm. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...86/72LS5aa.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...886/72LS5z.jpg |
Had an agreement to sell the BB engine in my '67 (yes, the newest one) but the guy pissed me off so I "unsold" it.
Now I'm keeping it. |

Still sitting in the shop, nothing done in the week it's been there. Driving me nuts, waiting for it to come home, suppose to be in there for 2 days.
