good work man!!

Quadracer392 11-06-2014 08:58 PM

Thanks guys! It's definitely been a learning experience for me.

Got the rest of my parts I needed for the body in this evening and got started on it after dinner. First thing I tackled was the new carb. that came in. I ended up getting the Polymer version of the Street Demon 625 CFM. I must say I'm pretty impressed with how this thing is made and how it looks but even more impressed with how it ran right out of the box. Primed it with fuel hooked the ignition wire back up and it fired right up. I hooked up a vacuum gauge and adjusted the idle screws just a tad and seemed to run really good. True test will be when I'm able to drive it.

Here's is what I started with as far as the body this evening

I got the inner and outer wheelhouse along with the trunk extension test fitted. After a little finesse with the trunk extension which at first seemed like it wasn't going to fit very well, I got it where I needed it and the other parts almost fell into place. Now I can take everything back out, treat the rust, fix a couple small rust holes, prime and paint then tack it into place and start fitting the quarter.

Jealous on the carb man

Quadracer392 11-07-2014 05:22 AM

Thanks Ken!

Shaun, I dunno if you saw it the other day, but I posted in the thread you made the other day about the demon carb. I got a heck of a deal on it. $262 shipped to my house and no tax. I couldn't pass it up. As of this morning the price is still the same. Here's what I posted

I've been looking for a new carb and ran across this today. I was on there two day ago and it was regular price. Since It was marked down so much I decided to get it. Well, when I went to check out I forgot amazon charges tax now. Then I remembered jegs does online price matching and since they don't have a store in WV I wouldn't have to pay tax if I bought it online. So, I saved myself an extra $15 in tax on top of $70 it was marked down from by buying it through jegs.:D

For whatever reasons the other models aren't marked down but here is the link to the one that is.

I remember doing all that. Looking good.

My brother and I shared a garage in the beginning and for most of my cars work. He has a 68 charger. We had both of them all apart like that at the same time. Mine apart on the lift and his was on a rotisserie getting floorpans.

People would come by to gawk and think you boys have lost your minds this time.

Doing good work there Justin

That carburetor reminds me of an old thermoquad in appearance.

Quadracer392 11-08-2014 05:06 AM

Maher, I've had several people ask me, how in world I was going to get it back together and couple said i was crazy also.

Thanks Ray!

Carpoor, I've heard some other say the same thing, but I've never really been around or used one. Didn't Chrysler mainly use those? These are supposed to be a "new design." I must say the other night when I was running it. The motor was fully warmed up and the body and top plate were almost the same temp as the ambient air. The composite body is supposed to keep the fuel a lot cooler and I can see where it definitely would.

carpoor 11-08-2014 06:25 AM

Yes, used by Mopar. For a short time they were composite body, and were sought after by racers for exactly what you described.
