I'm Jay, your Nancy right? Thought my name was in my profile somewhere.

I went to my first cruise night today and everybody loved my car. There were 2 other 69 chevelle SS's there and one I never saw before. Both are nice cars with nice owners. I think over 700 cars showed up total on this beautiful night

shadowgray396 07-07-2012 12:15 AM

Fired the car for the first time in 6 years. Motor ran great, but have electrical issues still. Some things work and others do not. Here's the fire up. Had my son and his friend over to help out.

Ms Grumpy 07-07-2012 10:06 AM

Jay, you probably have it in your profile, but I must not have seen it. And yes, I am Nancy but it is funny because I am Ms Grumpy on all the websites we own that most of my friends call me Ms Grumpy.

Sounds like you had a great night at the cruise. I am sure we will be hearing of many more cruises from you. :)

Ms Grumpy 07-07-2012 10:11 AM

Looking and sounding good Ray. Just curious, what size tailpipes and muffler did you go with ?

Yes you will, I just got back from a car show in cape code and we had a great time. It was a great show with only restored or very good condition cars and there were zero Hondas or scions there. About 150 cars total including some very rare ones. Me and my buddy followed each there, he was is His 71 cutlass so we followed each other the whole time and tried to stick together. We did have some road rage on the way back though when it was merging into one lane. Some guy in his new peice of crap scion wouldn't let me in but I wasn't giving up. So my buddy stopped waved me on his left and then we moved along. They started to get pissed and him and his wife flipped us off a lot of times. We had 3 teens in my car and 2 in the other do they were all waving to piss them off. Pretty funny though. He wouldn't look at me at all the driver, must have been afraid and jealous. Not like he didn't here my car, he was just a jerk that wouldn't let 2 muscle cars convoy. It actually happened on the way there to about to go over the cape cod bridge.

Running only 2" out the back with stock resonators and mufflers like the SS cars came with. It has Gardner exhaust on it.

Bullcrappy 07-09-2012 11:39 AM

Hey Shaun, they sent me 3/8 hardware with my shocks which i was happy cause the stuff up there was mismatched and boogiered up.

But the 3/8 stuff that came with the shocks doesn't fit thru the top shock perch... i got grade 5 - 5/16 bolts that will fit. its that or ream the upper shco mounting spt out a lil...

what did you use or reuse?

I was going to a car show with my kids and we were convoying with a friend in a 63 grand prix and I heard a squeaking and kind of clicking noise on the 69 when going 90 on the highway. It started the day before when racing my other buddy on The highway in his cutlass. It stopped when I got of the highway so i thought it was alright. It was the same noise I heard last year in June but then it completly went away. I thought it was a brake sticking that usually happens after the winter and that's what me and a few others friends talked about when at the show yesterday. Well on the way home we took it slow and then all of a sudden it got really bad and the noise was really loud and squeaking and all the other people on the highway could hear it with the windows up. I still went by 3 more exits to try and get to a town the half hour ways from my house but then I started to lose my steering and brakes and lots of smoke started to come out so I crossed over 4 lanes of traffic and got on to an off ramp and pulled up the curb to the side. A friend stopped and looked at it and said it was the spindle and bearing which is an easy fix. Me and my son sat in the woods for 2 hours in are chairs waiting for a tow truck. We still got all the thumbs up and beeping of the horns to are car sitting there. The first tow company that Hagerty chooses backed out cause of improper equipment and the second tow company switched drivers after and 30 mins which they were supposed to be there in that time. We eventually did get towed back to my house. Car is being picked up today at 3 and is going to my friends new car shop that he just opened up. He's real good with old cars. Wish me luck.

Went to NPD at lunch and got a new antenna since I broke the one last year when I tried to straighten the mast out....also bought some stuff for the Camaro.

flash 07-09-2012 06:05 PM

I walked out to the shop and looked at mine while looking for a drill bit to add a couple of holes to my belt .I just have not felt like playing with cars lately.

69chevelless 07-09-2012 07:39 PM

It's an easy fix my buddy at the shop said. He needs to order a part that will be here on Wednesday and then I should have it back on my day off on Friday. I really hope I do have it for Friday.

Bullcrappy 07-09-2012 09:54 PM

Finally got backup lights, left turn signal, dome light, all working tonight. It was the intermediate wiring harness connection that was not making a good contact. Just a a few items on the dash to work through and ready to install the windshield.

shadowgray396 07-10-2012 08:48 AM

Plan to make my first test drive today since getting the car running. I have not been behind the wheel for 6 years.

SS Shaun 07-10-2012 10:15 AM

good luck and hope its better then you remembered it! videos or it didnt happen :)

carpoor 07-10-2012 04:55 PM

My long block is back at the machine shop. I am having a PTV issue, which escapes me. The combination of parts should not have that problem at all. Going over after work Thursday to tear into it and see what is wrong. I am off Friday, if the weather holds - I need to tear into that frame and get it all in primer. I would really start to feel like I am getting somewhere with this car if I could get the front suspension all back together, and install the engine & transmission. (plus it would get a lot of big parts off of the shop floor)

SS Shaun 07-10-2012 09:44 PM

both sides done!

No drive tonight. I had to rush from a 100 miles away to the ER where my son was after he got injuried on a construction site today. He's home now but in pain with a left knee sprained or torn ligaments. Will not know for a few days until the swelling goes down and see if he can walk. He may need a MRI later in the week.

SS Shaun 07-11-2012 06:47 AM

ouch!! glad he is home hope he heals up quickly!

shadowgray396 07-11-2012 10:23 PM

I drove it, I drove it, I drove it tonight. Like a kid in a candy store. Car drove great, but have a lot of issues with the gauge cluster to work out. Just click on the photo

No smoking burn out on a brand new motor. Need to put some more miles on it. It runs but still need some small adjustments to get it running better.

carpoor 07-12-2012 12:31 PM

Very cool Ray. Who rebuilt your QJet? Mine is with Mr. Ruggles right now.

shadowgray396 07-12-2012 06:15 PM

I'm running a temp Qjet, but still need to get my carb redone.
