Ms Grumpy 12-18-2013 06:30 PM

Today got warm enough to make the snow into some slush. But once the sun went down, dang it got frigid cold. We are supposed to get some kind of a warm up, and everything will start to thaw and then it will get cold and we will deal with ice....welcome to Michigan.

BillsCamino 12-18-2013 08:09 PM

Decent day here...warm enough to lay under my truck on the floor of the shop w/doors open and install 4 new shocks and a fuel filter.
Forecast calling for 70+ this weekend but rain and possible T-storms on Sunday. :(

FlintTony 12-20-2013 04:22 AM

Ice. Nothing but ice on all flat surfaces this morning.

Hank70SS 12-20-2013 07:12 AM

Must be a couple degrees colder there Tony. We have a little ice, mostly wet sloppy snow from the warm temps yesterday.

Ken Hayes 12-20-2013 12:08 PM

With all the snow we have on the ground coupled with 40* weather and rain, it equals alot of fog. I cant even see my neighbors house across the street thats probably 130' away. C'MON SPRINGTIME !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ms Grumpy 12-20-2013 09:04 PM

Pretty foggy and rainy all day. Temps hit high 30's/low 40's. Roads were wet and slushy. I just have to wonder how people will travel 70 in the snow, but let the road be wet, and above freezing, and they are only traveling 50mph.

The temps are supposed to drop over the next few days, so everything will turn to ice. Oh what fun. lol

shadowgray396 12-20-2013 10:24 PM

Little cold here today,Surveyed in the snow

carpoor 12-21-2013 08:18 AM

Low 80s yesterday, supposed to be mid 80s through Monday. It is already up to 67* now.

Hank70SS 12-21-2013 08:29 AM

They're talking about rain, dropping temps, freezing rain and ice tonight. I better go see how much gas I have for the generator.

shadowgray396 12-21-2013 04:34 PM

First day of winter, shortest day of the year and now we are headed back the other way. 45 today and rain, snow is gone down low.

Hank70SS 12-22-2013 07:24 AM

We got some ice, can see it on the trees. I heard a branch break when I went out to get the paper. Fortunately it wasn't one of ours, don't feel like cleaning up downed branches and trees in this weather.

BillsCamino 12-22-2013 08:35 AM

Heavy rain, windy, occasional thunder, and 68 degrees here this morning. Leading edge of the big storm front effecting most of the US just started passing thru here about sun rise.
Gonna be a wet but warm day...

flash 12-22-2013 08:49 AM

Im so sick of drizzle and rain but at least it aint snow and ice .

FlintTony 12-22-2013 08:51 AM

Lots of ice here. I spent the last 2 hours out there in the freezing rain cutting the biggest branchs out of the street, then dragging them with the SS tractor. From my trees, so I gotta do it. Not having any fun today. I'm cold and soaked. Time to change boots, socks, pants, and take a break. A good friend just called and needs to borrow my chain saw. I hate loaning my good stuff out, but he is in a bind. At least he didn't want me to do the cutting.

Ken Hayes 12-22-2013 09:31 AM

Sounds like time for a hot spiced rum..........or two.

flash 12-22-2013 12:10 PM

Just got back from church and its still pouring rain ,the ditches are full and I have a river running through my pasture .I hope my driveway survives this one .

RBeckman 12-22-2013 09:36 PM

It was a beautiful day here, we saw mid to upper 80s most of the afternoon. Tuesday the crappy weather is supposed to be here. (60s for the high and lots of rain)

You can borrow my chainsaw Ric. Unlike Tony's it's not a good one so I don't mind lending it out.

The rain is supposed to stop here sometime this morning I hope ,then it will get cooler .I just hope we can dry out a bit .

flash 12-23-2013 11:08 AM

BillsCamino 12-23-2013 11:39 AM

Didn't think it was ever going to stop raining...probably got 4 inches or more this past weekend.

Thanks Hank, I took my regular saw over there but just ended up hooking it to the truck and yanking it off the road and cut some of the big parts and threw them in the ditch and will deal with it later.. She is still with out power so I'm driving out there 3 times a day to check on generator and fill it. She won't stay with any of us because she is stubborn and 78 years old and set in her ways. The house is 4000 sq ft and my dad passed in 2008 and she won't leave so I'm the one that has to maintain it for this kind of things and it is getting old. Both of my brothers live out of state so they can't help that much.

Hank70SS 12-24-2013 05:50 PM

It's 12 right now, sipping on a cold beer in front of warm fire. Got back from picking up our daughter at the airport a little while ago. Supposed to go down to 9 tonight but that's at the airport so it will be colder here.

My mom lived about 50 miles from us, fortunately she was in a condo so not that much to do but still the occasional stuff.

If you need the chainsaw or some help, give me a call. I have a pretty busy schedule with this retirement thing going on but I can lend you a hand. Seriously, if you need some help or a chainsaw or both give me a call.

flash 12-24-2013 07:27 PM

Hank ,if you deliver I want to borrow your chain saw .Just kidding of course but I think its time for me to buy a new saw as mine is being stubborn and I need some more firewood ,its in the mid 20's here now. I dont know how ya'll stand the cold and snow up there .

Thanks again Hank, I just got home from going up there and when I got there I noticed the street lights were on and that told me power was back on and I switch from generator and all is good for the time being. My son that lives in Grand Rapids said he will bring his chain saw over and on Thursday we will go over and cut it up and he will take the wood back with him so that will be good. My car temp said it was 1 degree. Merry Christmas

FlintTony 12-25-2013 04:26 AM

I just got cable back on. Went out Sunday, I think. I have had power, but my MIls' place and my brother Dougs' were both out. I've been running back and forth fron Davison to Dougs place, hauling this big, heavy generator in and out of the truck. 6 degrees out yesterday morning at around 5 am and it wouldn't start. Tore the carb off in the windy ass weather and found a chunk of the rubber fuel line that had deteriorated stuck in the seat. I've got a million big branchs' and trees down in the yard. Dougs yard looks like a hurricane went through. Got in a good pissing match with a truck load of hood-rats at the only gas station that was open. They bought some scratch-off Lotto tickets and thought it was a good idea to sit in front of the pump and scratch them off, with cars backed up into both roads at the corner. Of all the cars and trucks sitting there waiting on the fat-assed fools to move on, I'm the only one that said anything to them. I hate people. Merry Christmas.

PS...in my best soup-nazi voice......NO CHAINSAW FOR YOU !!!!!!!!!!!

Well that sucks. I have a gen you can use and since it sounds like Ric is all set if you need any help or anything else you have my number. My generator is 30 amp connector plus 4 110v, 5500 watts continuous. If it will keep you from hauling one around it's your's to use.

We never did lose power here. Lights flickered Sunday morning while we were cooking up some pancakes and bacon. I was thinking great, just when this stuff is half done but it didn't go out.

FlintTony 12-25-2013 06:03 PM

Thanks Hank. I have two generators, an 8000 for the house and this smaller 5000 for an extra. I built carts for both of them, so I can move them around easily. Only thing is, they are too heavy with the carts for me to lift up into the truck when I have to take them somewhere. I took the small one off the cart, but it is still a heavy bastard. I have the big one set up to feed the house and some of the shop, so it won't be hauled around.
Shoot me an email about when you are going to be in Florida. Maybe we can get together for a cold one.

FlintTony 12-26-2013 04:19 AM

And I get up to see another 6" of snow that I'll have to plow today. Seems like the Farmers Almanac predidted this cold and snow for this Winter.

Hank70SS 12-26-2013 07:36 AM

We got maybe 4" of snow yesterday/last night. Guess I didn't think it through when we made a spot to park the motorhome next to the driveway. We have the family room and garage on one side of the driveway and shed across the end of the driveway. The motorhome sits along the driveway opposite the house. All the snow needs to be pushed down the driveway or into the small area between the shed and motorhome. That's a 30' x 40' area of snow that needs to be pushed somewhere. Talk about poor planning, seemed like a good idea in the summer when we did it.

RBeckman 12-26-2013 09:42 AM

We got about 6 inches again this morning, I think I've had to shovel for the last 6 days. I know we have had more snow already this year than all of last year.
