And all ground down.

Looking good .

So did you take care of the rust on the inside also?
|
The inside was still solid so I just scraped it off and hit it with 2 coats of rust converter and then sealed it.

I had Friday off this week so I flipped the car around and started working on the passenger rear quarter. This one was in bad shape and had some extra large holes in it from the battery charging lugs that used to be on the side of the car.
I started out by cutting the bad metal off the car. http://www.allenitllc.com/hotrods/ch...-quarter-1.jpg I then fixed the wheel tub and corner of floor section and neautralized the inside rust. http://www.allenitllc.com/hotrods/ch...-quarter-2.jpg New panel cut and ready. http://www.allenitllc.com/hotrods/ch...-quarter-3.jpg Welded in place. http://www.allenitllc.com/hotrods/ch...-quarter-4.jpg And finally complate! ;) http://www.allenitllc.com/hotrods/ch...-quarter-5.jpg |
It sure is nice to see the rust get cut out and new metal welded in. One of these days, I'll finish up the primer and paint work on mine. I can't wait to see the progress on this one!

Looking good. Also be aware rust converters don't pentrate deep enough into the metal to stop rust. POR 15 or epoxy primer is what most people use.

Hey gang! I've been busy on the car and haven't posted any progress. After fixing and replacing all my rust issues I primed it with a high build primer and blocked it all out smooth.
http://www.allenitllc.com/hotrods/ch...20chevelle.jpg I then turned my garage into a paint booth!! Yes I know I look good in that suit! LOL!! http://www.allenitllc.com/hotrods/ch...nt%20booth.jpg I then laid down my epoxy primer. http://www.allenitllc.com/hotrods/ch...%20epoxied.jpg Next was to spray my base coats and clear. The booth worked really well and exhausted quickly. http://www.allenitllc.com/hotrods/ch...20complete.jpg I've spent the past 4 days cutting and buffing the paint and it turned out great! http://www.allenitllc.com/hotrods/ch...0completed.jpg |
Looks much better than before ,you did a good job.
|
