Good, I hate stem wall. I always had more drywall cracks on houses with a stem wall slab vs. monolithic. I don't care what people say about stem wall being superior, I won't ever use it again.

Sorry, worked in the industry off and on for years.

In a nutshell, stem wall - they build a wall the perimeter of the home. Then fill the center with fill dirt and tamp it down. They do a compaction test, ok it. Then pour a slab on top of it. The top row of blocks are chair blocks, and stick up above the fill dirt. Giving a guide of where to pour up to.

Monolithic - they form it up. Then install wire mesh and rebar. The concrete is fiberglass reinforced.

Both methods use poured footers for a solid foundation. But, you can clearly see why I prefer monolithic. That dirt they fill and tamp down in stem wall settles after the slab is poured. It's simple physics, and common sense.

I'm thinking that your "confusion" is much more deeply rooted than my crummy pictures.

Hey ,thats a lot of scrap metal ,I mean nice gate .

I'm kinda worried about that. If the scrappers figure out that it is made of aluminum, I'm thinking it will be gone. I will keep a couple of chains and locks on it, but if they want it bad enough, it's gone. I'm having a 3' one made to go next to that one. I'm getting lazy, so when I go out to get the mail I'll have a small gate to open.

I will explaine that comment now ,there is a house near me that just recently sold to a new owner after it went into forclosure several years ago .This house is huge and the only house on a 200 acre tract ,completely subdivided but all originally owned by one couple with one son .They had homes here ,Hawaii and elsewhere and just decided to let this one go .Just after the new owner took possession and started repairs someone stole his front gate and all the manhole /stormdrain covers .He thought it was strange that they waited til he bought it to start stealing everything in sight but he put up bigger ones the next time and had everything welded so they would have to work harder for it.
