It may be worth more once redone, but getting it there would be on your dime. You made the right call Shaun. A friend of mine offered him a clean 2001 S10 extended cab with 50k miles, loaded with options, 17" ZR1 wheels - straight up trade. He turned his nose up at it. I told my friend that he's obviously too proud of it.

yeah he went into a rant here is his message
Quote:

Well I'm not going to get in a pissing war with u if ur going to throw something out there don't start dogging mine this car was my brothes that died in afghanistan fighting for our freedom me and him have over 8k into this car
so i told him
Sounds good good luck on the sale

and now he wants to reply with
Quote:

So u don't want it??
and i told him I do want it but you and i will never make a deal so pass it along

Someone else's emotional attachment doesn't constitute you paying more than it is worth. When he comes to term with that, he will find a buyer.

Ms Grumpy 05-29-2014 09:06 PM

No dollar amount will ever be enough because he is so emotionaly attached to this car because of his brother. It is sad, but like carpoor said, when he comes to terms with that...he might be able to sell it. But not if he leaves it under that tree much longer.

Ms Grumpy 05-29-2014 09:10 PM

I started thinking about this guys attachment and it made me think. I bought my car from my brother over 16 yrs ago. I paid him $1,600 for the car in pieces. He told me that he bought the car because he saw the potential and so did I. Many, many, many thousands of dollars later...I have the car that I want and I too have an attachment to the car. But I know that the dollar amount that I have put into it...is not necessarily the dollar amount that I could get if I ever sold it. That is the price we pay for having this kind of "hobby".

o i totally agree with you. I know that i am getting close to the 20k mark on my chevelle but i might be able to get 20k for it if i sell it. i am hoping when i am done with phase one of my car i will be at 25k but then when phase 2 comes i am going to be doomed..lol

Oh hell yes....

Thank Heaven for the Classic car insurance companies. I know that when I first filled out the paperwork I listed a lot of things and sent in some great pictures of what they wanted. And then I put in an agree upon amount that I thought they would question, but no...they sent me an approval and they even raised my value this year. Well worth every penny I pay. Considering I used to carry the minimum insurance thru my regular car insurance company because they did not have a policy to fully cover a car as modified as mine.
