Congrats on the granddaughter. By daughter is due mid July. I think it's a girl, but we will see. She didn't want to know the sex of the baby.

So, started last month cleaning and painting the gazebo. It's 13'x13' with hot tub inside. It's all ceder and was looking pretty bad. Decided to paint instead of trying to stain again. Looked pretty good when we got done except for the ceder shake roof. It was all gray, starting to curl and come loose. So peeled that off and re-shingled with regular roof shingles.

In the mean time our son was house hunting and wanted us with him when he looked at them. Well he did buy a house, closed several weeks ago, and we've been helping him clean and move some of his stuff. The previous owner is in his 80's, his wife passed away about 5 years ago and cleaning was not a top priority for him. It's a nice house and in good shape, just needs a really good cleaning and some painting inside.

Along with trying to cut the grass whenever it stops raining that's pretty much what's been keeping me busy and offline.

I never remember to take pictures before I start a project. Here are some pictures after we painted the gazebo and before the new roof. You can see some of the old ceder shake singles. The sides of cupola are pretty much what the rest of it looked like before we painted. Roof has too much pitch to do the cupola so I did that after we had the new shingles on. Last picture is completed project.

Never did post pictures of last years project. That's the one where we had the wooden beam on the upstairs deck replaced with an 8x8 steel H beam. It sits on 2 steel posts on top of 8" diameter, 48" deep cement pilings. Old wood beam sat on 4 metal posts that were just sitting on top of the cement patio. Going from 4 posts down to 2 cleaned things up a lot. I had the guy who installed it trim it and the face boards of the deck in aluminum. Then my son and I installed the vinyl to the bottom of the deck to finish it off. We also built the wall at the end of the patio. Four 4x4s cemented in. Backed by 2x6's, tar paper and back filled with pea gravel. There is drain pipe at the bottom behind the wall to carry the rain out under the steps. I finished of the face of the wall and enclosed the bottom of the steps. Looks a lot better than the old stone wall that was falling into the patio.

Okay gotta go cut the grass, think it's dry now and it's supposed to rain later and tomorrow and the next day.

The toilet was there when I was at your house last summer. You mean you actually plumbed it so it doesn't dump on ground anymore?
