Right now I just have a length of 1/2" clear tubing with some braided steel over it, and it has made a mess of things. Seems like a JY run might score me some sort of restorable holding vessel. Is there any sort of real advantage to having one that can put the fluid back into the radiator?

Again, I'm just quoting what someone else wrote on another site, but its my understanding that using a recovery tank raises the boiling temp on the coolant. If so then that alone is worth a shot.

Thought id post an update. Finally got around to calling a few GM dealers on these part numbers. They are all still available and the 3 dealers I spoke to wanted the same pricing.

White bottle.....GM #14070997 $21.43
Bottle cap........GM #15630112 $11.30
Rad cap...........GM #10409635 $14.10

None of the dealers stocked the bottle but it will be here on Monday. The sort of crappy part was ordering the bottle cap. Something about the dealer has to order 5 of them at a time so they all wanted me to purchase all 5.

We got lucky and found a dealer on the east side that still had one in stock.

I know that the convenience of an overflow tank is that you don't actually have to open your radiator cap to see where your fluid is. The overflow thank has the fill lines on it, one hot and one cold for the fluid in your radiator.

The biggest reason that we wanted it was cause if we took it to the track we needed it to have the overflow tank.

Thats the setup I'm using in my '67. Also used in my BIL's '69.
Works and fits very well...on either side of the engine compartment.

This setup worked real nice. Looks nice and clean, like Bill posted above. Only we put it on the left side of the engine compartment, due to the washer bottle being on the right. Will post some pics in the near future.
