I am actually hoping to take it out for a drive today. Yesterday I actually opened the garage door and looked at it.

For the past few days I've been detailing her up and cleaning all the nooks and crannies. I'm one of those anal virgo types who likes everything clean. LOL

I would really hate to live where I could not enjoy the car year round. Definitely seems early to be packing up the car for winter but I don't know that you've had much time to enjoy your car lately anyway Gary.

flash 09-16-2011 06:46 AM

Driving the wheels off of it ,currently in Vermont and heading to Pennsylvania soon.

Ms Grumpy 09-17-2011 06:50 PM

Went to the Romulus Pumpkin Fest and the Car Show hosted by the Michigan Chevelle Club. Chuck always does a great job running his events. It was really nice to see a variety of cars win the top 15 Trophies. I took a lot of pics, and I know I am behind on posting them, but I will get them up soon.

I have been having problems with the starter lately, but I was brave and drove the 40 miles each way, with the hope that my car would treat me well. Especially since this is the first time in a few weeks that I have taken it out. And she did me proud ! It started up right away, then started up after I put gas in her. Did the drive there and when it was time to leave, she started right up again. Yeah !!! Parked her at the end of the driveway, hoping to go to another cruise tonight. And when I went out there after about and hour....guess what....didn't start. At least I was at home. So I let it sit for another hour, and it started right up. I can't wait til we get the new starter in.

We continued our journey of driving the wheels off the old gal ,currently in Virginia .

I was coming home from work, yesterday and the wagon started running very rough. I got hole and let it cool down. I had to go to my kids football game. She is in the marching band drum line. I promised her I would be there. So i did not get home till very late. But I jumped onto the wagon. I started to take out the plugs. They were like someone put them in with an impact wrench. I have never changed the plugs, I just got it a month ago. I had to use a breaker bar!!! So when I got to the 7th cyl. plug. I got on it and it SNAPPED!!! Out came the plug, but the plug threads were left in the head. These a cast iron heads. Not aluminum. Well I was just wrecked after that and went in. Tried to sleep. The next day (Today) was all booked for me. But I got home at 4pm and called my buddy to tell him about it and asked him if he had any Easy-Outs. But I really did not think I could get this out. He told me to soak it down with WD40 and he would be on his way. He got there and in 2 minutes we had it out. Man I thought i was sunk, but thank goodness I have some good friends. :D

I been in the garage staring at the engine compartment for 2 hours trying to decide if I should do an air conditioner delete.
I would like to dress up the engine a bit and think it would look better if the air was gone.
Decisions, decisions.
To many decisions.

Ms Grumpy 09-18-2011 05:12 PM

Matt, that was so cool that the plug came out. And yes it is so nice to have good friends that are willing to help you out.

Rich, your decision is my dilemma. I want to put air in, but am not sure how it would look under the hood.

flash 09-18-2011 05:54 PM

I just finished un-packing all the stuff we took with us and the extra stuff that followed us home.

I think I'm gonna go ahead and do the delete.
To me this car is all about looks, not comfort.

That is always fun, you realize all the goodies you picked up along the way.

grandsport 09-18-2011 08:08 PM

Maureen and I went for a 20 mile ride today, filled up the tank on the way home, then put a coat of wax on him.He is now snug in his covers until April 2012.

flash 09-18-2011 08:21 PM

I now have a couple of weeks to get the vert cleaned up for our trip to Mississippi for Cruisin The Coast .She goes to the bodyshop for an estimate on the bumper replating ordeal tomorrow after the small accident during our trip.

You know you can't leave me hanging like that.

WOW...you are not going to do anything to him ALL winter ?

Ms Grumpy 09-19-2011 07:45 PM

By the way...I just walked past the garage with the car in it today. I dropped off the Toyota at the body shop and walked home right past the garage. Besides it was pouring rain so she wasn't coming out today anyway.

Ms Grumpy ,we got tagged by a guy at one of the hotels driving a minivan. He tried to squeeze between the hotel wall and our vert and scratched our rear bumper on the corner .I have not yet decided if Im going to persue repairing it ,I want to try to polish it out first. The guy called me tonight and was very sorry over it but wants me to do what makes it right for us. Whats right might be to polish it up as best I can and let him off free and clear .

Ms Grumpy 09-19-2011 09:00 PM

You are such a nice guy flash. It could have been a lot worse, like grumpy just said, it could have been more than just the bumper. I always tell people, it is the little things that give the car character.

BillsCamino 09-19-2011 10:52 PM

John,
I know of a bumper chrome place here in Atlanta...VERY close to my work.
They've done many Chevelle bumpers for me in the past...reasonably priced too.
Let me know and I can drop it off & pick up for 'ya.:)

SS Shaun 09-20-2011 12:20 PM

ordered my rear bumper brackets :)

70SS396 09-20-2011 01:12 PM

I'm in the process of replacing the dash, dash pad and stereo in mine. I have to pick up a few items from NPD on the way home to finish it off. I should have it done by the weekend, pics to follow of the carnage. My wife about flipped when she saw what was left after I tore everything out.

flash 09-21-2011 09:03 PM

I didnt even get to look at our Chevelle today ,working after work trying to clean up our rental property that our previous tennants destroyed. I have never smelled anything as bad as what our place smelled like with the rotted food left in the fridge and mold and mildew from a leaky water pipe.

flash 09-22-2011 01:43 PM

I hope to at least open the door today and look at the El Camino and the Chevelle ,but no chance of getting either one out .

Ms Grumpy 09-22-2011 08:04 PM

Why didn't you tell us you had a rental home. 3 bedrooms ? might consider moving. :)

Actually backed my car 1/2 way out of garage so we could get into the rafters.

68ChevelleSS 09-22-2011 10:17 PM

Bought a new wiper motor for the 68 today. Does that count? lol

flash 09-22-2011 10:34 PM

Ms Grumpy ,you would not want to live in my rental house at the moment as Im still trying to get rid of FLEAS .It had a major infestation ,after 2 months of bombing them Im almost ready to start cleaning the place and making repairs .I thought seriously about donating the place to Habitat For Humanity or to the local fire dept to train during burning but thought I would try one more time with it. I fired my management company yesterday after telling them Im tired of redoing my property every year when it becomes vacant .This is the worst Ive ever seen in my 18 years of being a landlord.

Ms Grumpy 10-04-2011 08:36 PM

Since I got the starter fixed on Saturday, I have been dying to go in my car. Tonight I took my son and drove over to my moms (about 20 min away) and took her some beer and a piece of the raspberry torte that I made. I don't know if she was happier to see me and the car or the beer....I think it was the beer. But had fun just being out in the beautiful weather, had to adjust the headlights though. Hadn't really driven in the dark in a while and noticed one shining a little low.

SS Shaun 10-04-2011 09:10 PM

i have the trunk down to bare metal now! going to por it and then splatter paint and then put the bumper on so the rear can look done :)

flash 10-05-2011 01:16 PM

We are driving the wheels off her all week long.

shadowgray396 10-05-2011 04:49 PM

Been more then a month since I have been able to do any work on the car. Hope to get back to it this weekend.

FlintTony 10-05-2011 06:24 PM

I fired mine up today and took a little spin. Felt pretty good.

Ms Grumpy 10-05-2011 08:45 PM

Good for you Tony !!

Ms Grumpy 10-05-2011 08:48 PM

I took mine up to Holly, about a 45 minute drive each way, to a Halloween Car Cruise. It was nice to see Rick and hear about his new lift that he should have pretty soon. Man am I jealous, everyone has a bigger garage than me, but that's no surprise if you ever saw mine. Kids were tuckered, asked if they could sleep on the way home. In the back of my car...you got to be joking....needless to say, they tried. We got home about 9:40, they were asleep by 9:45.

flash 10-06-2011 05:14 PM

We are still cruisin ours with about 7500 other nice rides of all kinds, a lot of which are Chevelles.

grandsport 10-06-2011 06:52 PM

I might sit and talk to mine on Sunday.:p

SS Shaun 10-06-2011 09:26 PM

i checked on the trunk and made sure everything was good and stage 2 will start this weekend
