Ya, they don't like workers comp claims, raises their insurance rates.

carpoor 08-30-2013 02:38 PM

Not much new to report, today I was assured that they will have an ortho appointment scheduled for me by end of day Tuesday. Today marks six weeks since I was injured.

Ms Grumpy 08-30-2013 08:27 PM

That is so crazy that you are still waiting.

carpoor 09-03-2013 08:17 AM

They came through for me, 2pm appointment tomorrow. Hoping I don't get anymore bad news.

The worst part of this - I haven't been getting paid this whole time. Found out a few weeks ago that I couldn't be paid until I see a specialist.

flash 09-03-2013 11:09 AM

That sux that youve been waiting all this time and on top of that no pay .

carpoor 09-04-2013 09:11 PM

Well, surgery it is to reattach the tendon. I won't finish my car this year. :( And the recovery time is a long road. (They speculate around four months total.)

FlintTony 09-05-2013 04:15 AM

Well, good luck. Hope you have a speedy recovery.

Hank70SS 09-05-2013 08:18 AM

4 months! At least they finally got the ball rolling, good luck.

Ms Grumpy 09-05-2013 08:10 PM

So will they now get the ball rolling on disability for you ? Did they schedule a surgery date ?

carpoor 09-05-2013 08:42 PM

Surgery is one week from today, the 12th. I continue to harass them daily about getting retroactive pay. They owe me for six weeks currently.

Ms Grumpy 09-06-2013 08:41 PM

Keeping positive thoughts for you.

carpoor 09-06-2013 08:57 PM

Thanks Nancy! How is your daughter doing?

Last night I went to the range with a few things I had bought this year, but never shot. I had shot a 10mm before, but forgotten how violent it is. Especially in a sub compact. (G29SF) Also shot my pistol carbine, had a few FTE issues with it towards the end. Something I'll have to tweak once I am healed up. My shoulder is actually sore from that little carbine after 100 rounds. It still kicks pretty hard despite being a pistol round. (.45 ACP)

Tomorrow night, if the weather plays along... going to the track. I will race my truck for a "fix."

It's like I have a "bucket list." Things to do before surgery.

carpoor 09-09-2013 04:23 PM

Well, no track for me Saturday. I just wasn't feeling it, went to a local cruise night instead.

 Great news though, FedEx showed up today with checks!

Finally can stop living off my savings! HUGE relief!

flash 09-09-2013 04:45 PM

Glad to hear you finally got paid .

That is great news. I am so happy for you !

Thanks for asking about my daughter Lauren. Well according to the Physical Therapist, Lauren needed this machine that would cost us $300 a month to stretch her knee as she slept. But according to the Doctor, that was a waste of money. Lauren just needed to do more walking and stretching exercises. This info was all about a month ago.

Fast forward to last week. School started. No busses in our school district. Lauren has a little over a mile walk to school. So I think she is getting her daily exercise of her knee. She may not be happy about it, and she is tired when she gets home. But she plopped her behind on the couch most of the summer, even though I told her she needed to get out and walk and get ready for school. Well now she regrets not walking, but she said it is getting easier.

carpoor 09-20-2013 08:15 PM

Well, I am 8 days into this - post surgery. They removed the splint and put my arm in a cast to restrict movement. I'll be stuck in this thing for two weeks. Then, therapy starts... I'm ready for that next leap. But, dreading it at the same time.

Is it almost January?

Hank70SS 09-21-2013 07:15 AM

Well now you can finally start moving forward. It'll take some time but at least you're not at a standstill any longer, good luck.

carpoor 10-08-2013 06:23 PM

They took the cast off today, now have a small brace. Also started therapy this afternoon. Was told strengthening will start 10 weeks post op, so that means about six weeks from now. Might be able to return to work right before Christmas.

flash 10-08-2013 06:30 PM

Congrats on getting the cast off , get that therapy going and dont look back ,you will be good as new soon.

carpoor 10-19-2013 08:12 PM

Another week of therapy down. It's not going as well as I had hoped. The flexibility and elasticity isn't where it needs to be. It's very painful, and I feel I have a fairly high index for pain. I have a doctors appointment on the 29th, hoping by then my condition will have improved.

carpoor 10-30-2013 08:21 AM

Saw the doctor yesterday, no more brace! He said four more weeks of physical therapy to get my full range of motion back. Then four weeks of strengthening, after that - "do whatever you want." They are going to try to get my employer to let me do light duty in four weeks. That would be great, at least then I would get my base pay for 40 hours a week vs. workman's comp pay. (About 67% of my base pay) I will still be missing the OT pay, but I can manage for now.

Feeling like I am on the home stretch!

Hank70SS 10-30-2013 10:11 AM

:) That's good news. Sounds like things are going well for you.

carpoor 10-31-2013 07:16 PM

Damnit, my employer isn't able to accommodate me for light duty. Spoke with management today and got that news. As soon as I start strengthening in therapy, I am going to work on getting my car running.

carpoor 12-10-2013 07:36 AM

My last doctor appointment is one week from today. They are supposed to release me to return to work on the 17th. I have already put a bug in the ear of my GM. I want him to know that they must not drag their feet on this. I am hoping to work the rest of December.

flash 12-10-2013 08:39 AM

Good luck ,I hope they turn you loose .

Ms Grumpy 12-12-2013 10:44 PM

Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Hank70SS 12-13-2013 05:58 PM

Sounds like you're doing good, glad to hear it. Good luck.

FlintTony 12-14-2013 04:25 AM

I hope it all works out for you. Have you been going stir-crazy, not being able to go to work?

carpoor 12-14-2013 07:54 AM

Absofuckinglutely Tony. I got a puppy 2.5 months ago to help stay busy. And going to PT three times a week kills some time. But, even still - I have gained almost 20 lbs.

If my alternator would show up, I could get my car running and that would ease my mind for now. Tuesday can't get here fast enough. I am past ready to go back to work.

shadowgray396 12-14-2013 08:24 AM

Good luck on your return to work.

FlintTony 12-14-2013 09:51 AM

If the Doc doesn't let you go back to work, I can put you on the business end of a shovel. I need to get started on the blueberry patch for the Michigan crowd to get to work. Maybe you could build the road-side stand? Good luck with the Doc.

Are we going to make wine as well out of these blueberries? I've been watching "Moonshiners" and I think I can do it.

carpoor 12-14-2013 12:02 PM

How about I coordinate with your current site workers and build you a nice back stop with some lanes - outdoor shooting range.

Beckman, I like where you are going with that idea!

Every year at the Frankenmuth Auto-Fest, I indulge in mass quanities of blackberry wine. I suppose blueberry would be better, so lets get cooking.

Ms Grumpy 12-15-2013 05:58 PM
