That grill emblem is worth a small fortune!!
and I wouldn't mind owning the bed cap... |
Damn.......:(
Yep, damn. If you were standing there with the cash, it should have been yours.
That really sux ,I was looking forward to seeing another orange Elky .
Unreal... sorry to hear Ray. I found a 98% identical truck to mine, agreed on a price, etc. Called the next two days trying to set up a day and time with no response. I was slightly upset, had to start all over looking for another one. It is incredibly hard to find a decent RCSB, V8 truck around here.

Alot of talk on another site about the elcamino I was looking at after it ended up on ebay. I think I was being watch over. Not what the owner claimed it to be.
"A little update for all of you. So ebay wont let you go back and change anything written but will let you add stuff. So I added the final bit about the stamping. The auction ended and I made contact with the buyer and discussed the concern of the stamping and what I had since learned about the car. I cancelled the auction and he agreed so he was not out any funds and I was only out for my listing. In the mean time the following has happened: Jerry Macneish authenticated the car as a fake. We provided multiple pictures to him for his database. The oil was drained and a scope camera was used to see if 2 or 4 bolt. Couldn't tell (crappy camera) but through the oil port drilling size we determined it is 99% sure a 2 bolt main motor. So now... we have a demand letter headed to previous owner via our attorney, but after talking to previous owner on the phone it is apparent he wants to fight it, and he clearly knew it to be a fake. Hindsight is 20/20 but learned he substituted a different bill of sale at time we finished the deal (deposit given, then paid in full), he is far more knowledgeable of engine stampings than he originally lead on to, and claims he took photos of my friend and I looking at car so he could prove we saw the numbers. We have a reward ad on craigslist for info for previous owners as well as anyone willing to testify that he knew of the forgery. Up to $3,000. It also lets everyone know it is not a real numbers matching car. Included in the lawsuit will be the cost to pull motor and have block decked to remove stampings. We are dealing with a real gem of a seller, we really wanted to believe it was real, we couldn't understand why one would fake stamp it as L-89 and not advertise it as such once we went back and decoded motor. So a big shout out to everyone who essentially called me a dirt bag. In the end, now that it is proven a fake, I am the one with a forged car in my garage and the headache of making sure no one else gets duped.... " |
And that is exactly why I don't like numbers cars and prefer clones. The element of people you deal with are not very savory. Both owners and sellers. It just so much easier to just say it is what it is and miss the petty bickering in court.
I like the cars and not having to be worried about who was drunk on the line and put a incorrect part on. And 50 years later some expert who literally knows nothing and is a expert is trying to sue you. It just cheaper and easier to own a clone. Can't sue you over them. Nobody trying to screw you. Don't got to watch your back. You like it and want it or you don't. Way it should be. Sorry to hear about it tho. Sux. |
Here's an add wanting info on it.

It's baffling that people still think they can get away with this type of forgery. Remember the 65' Z16 clone that had a trim tag which appeared to have been done by a three year old?

Getting back on topic, narrowed the truck down today and this is what I'm going to get. 2015 Ford F150,XLT, V6 2.7 EcoBoost truck. Looks like I have to order it, they can't keep them in stock. 24 Mpg highway
2.7L ? I thought they were 3.5L
That's a great looking truck.

Interesting, 325 HP, 375 TQ.

You know Ray I have always been a Chevy girl but if I was buying a new truck I would buy the Ford F150 too. Extended cab, just have to have the room with kids still at home. But we have rented a few of them and they always seemed to be the one with more room for David and just a great truck. Am I in trouble now ??
Chevy for cars and Ford trucks for me.
I'll stick with GM trucks, they still have ohv pushrod engines that I am able to work on and fix myself.
If I ever got a new truck. I like the big dodge 4X4's with a Cummings diesel. So I could tow a house with it.
I just like the dodge's front ends look. But I will stick with my durango until I loose the rust battle. I only drive the poor thing in the snow mainly. I do get it out just to run it in the summer tho. It isn't good for them to just sit. |
Finally ready to buy the truck and I find out that Ford is only making the truck I wanted with a 5.5 foot bed. Wanted a 6.5 foot bed. For the rest of the year that is all they are making. And the truck and engine combo I wanted they don't even offer it. Back to square one.
Ray, have you done an "inventory search" on the Ford site? There may be a truck just like you want setting on a Dealers lot somewhere. I went through that when I was looking for a new Ford van.
Ford has not made the truck I want with a 6.5' box all year. Not an option for this year. Maybe next year. You have to buy the big motor truck to get the larger box.
I've had a 5.5' bed on the last two F150's I've bought, both are 4dr SCrew...and not been any issue. Figure I'm driving around with an empty bed about 99% of the time.
Although I've been hauling 4'x8' sheets of 1/2" plywood this week. |

Well all this Truck talk I went and did a impulse buy yesterday and got me one of those trucks....my daughter has been bugging me to get my Chrysler 200 and since she graduates in December from University of Michigan I got her a early gift as well as me.

Sweet!!! Tell us about the truck.
It looks expensive ,but nice .
It's a 2015 Colorado Z71 Trail Boss edition which gave me bigger tires, skid plates, spray on Bedliner, locking rear end. I was thinking about a full size but this fits me better for my daily driver as it is suppose give me 20-24 MPG. So far I like it.

Finally going out to buy a new truck. Looks like it will be a 2016 GMC Sierra 1500. Sold my Tundra today. There 15k off the MSRP right now.
Congrats nice truck your getting.
Thanks. Truck is home. Really got a good deal on it today.
Very nice and love the color
Good looking truck! Enjoy.
Thanks, now I have to learn all the technology in it. My other truck didn't have half this stuff. It did come with lifetime oil changes. If I keep it like my last truck, that's going to cost them. Lol.
I like it, I am envious.
All the electronics on the truck shut down today. 350 miles on it and all this is happening.
