Glad you got to use it in the parade, my car has just sat in garage all week while I have been gone.
Thanks Ray.
I probably over did it, but I took my car to the Woodward Dream Cruise today. I really ticked off a guy who was parked beside me. He asked me if I would move my car so that he could park in the "better" parking spot. He had his car for sale and he said he didn't beat me to the spot. How could he beat me ? All the spots were numbered and mine was #1, right on the end. I told him that I was having trans problems and that I would prefer not to. He got mad and tried to tell me that he could fix my trans problem. I was not letting this guy near my car. Anyway, he ended up sweet talking someone and parked his car so that it was blocking mine from anyone seeing it on Woodward. But it ended up backfiring on him. I guess all week he had the car listed for $15k, and people had seen it, well now it was listed for $13k and people were not being nice when they were talking about it. But they were checking out my car and saying some pretty nice things about it. One guy even asked him why he parked his "hunk of junk in front of my beautiful car"..ouch. Needless to say it was an interesting day. |
Haha good story Nancy!

Started a project over the weekend.
Man you can destroy a perfectly decent car in about an hours time! http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/o...g?t=1345427448 Good news is I found a partial reason why my heater/AC air flow was so horrible Plastic piece that secures to the air flow direction door was broken and not allowing the door to move as it should. This allowed air to leak out of all the vents rather than directing it to the correct duct. Hoping I will actually have A/C that blows hard enough to cool me down now (fingers crossed!) http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/o...g?t=1345384482 If all goes as planned I should be able to start putting the new gauges & dash back in this evening after work! |
i changed my oil and filter. found out the antifreeze plug (sorry i donīt know the english word) above the starter is leaking.
Made some progress on the gauge install today.
Still have a rat's nest of wiring behind the dash that needs straightened out and none of the sensors have been installed but the gauges are in and I would say 1/2 to 3/4 of the battle is over. I know these will not appeal to everyone but I am actually quite pleased with the appearance and welcome all the added functionality that the factory gauges lacked! Getting everything laid out and ready to start cutting/wiring. http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/o...g?t=1345516399 Easily one of the best bang for the buck investments made! Laminated, color wiring diagram! http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/o...g?t=1345516403 Almost done wiring http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/o...g?t=1345516364 Rock & Roll! http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/o...g?t=1345516391 http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/o...g?t=1345516395 http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/o...g?t=1345516386 |
We took our youngest foster boy cruisin in the vert this afternoon and he had a blast.

My poly locks showed up tonight, was expecting them last weekend. Guess I can finally run the valves after work tomorrow. I've had the pushrods since Saturday.
And we have a tropical depresssion covering most of the state right now. I have a feeling that is going to put a huge damper on any progress for the rest of the week. |
Bummer carpoor. I just love that name, it could fit any and all of us, love it !
I didn't do anything with my car today. What a bummer for me. |
Was able to beat the rain today! All parts installed, and valves adjusted. An added bonus, the intake manifold is on and sealed up. I am unsure about the placement of the two studs provided in the factory bolt kit. Maybe Ray will chime in and remind me where they are supposed to be.

One goes up front for the alternator bracket to connect too, and the other in the back for the metal vacuum line to the brake booster. You motor is looking good.
Got the Chevelle appraised and change the insurance on it today. Now I can go get it licensed and be legal on the road.
Thanks Ray, I'll swap those around tomorrow.
I FINALLY got to working on it after months of watching take up a spot next to the driveway. I got the front clip off and started cleaning up the frame to get it ready to squirt some paint on it.
I drove the El Camino to work today since the parts store sent me the wrong brake shoes for my truck.
Bought some instruments to know better how Chevelle ir running.
Tach, water temp, oil pressure and voltmeter. Next week lets go to install it. |
I swapped those studs around on my intake manifold, thanks again Ray. Then I torqued the intake down. (30ft/lbs) I layed under the car and ate some more dirt, rust, grease, etc. It's starting to mist, so I came inside for lunch. I am pretty sure I am done working on it for a few days due to the weather. We have a HUGE tropical storm heading this way, and it seems like it will develop into a hurricane by the time it reaches us. (Tomorrow)
I am off Tuesday, so maybe I'll be blessed with some decent, read - rain-free, weather. |
We drove the vert up to Jasper today to attend a benefit auction for our little buddy Cody and to take him for a ride in HIS car (Joan's vert) .
Fired up the Chevelle today and took it out for a couple mile drive. Haven't been home the last 3 weeks so not much has been done to it. Still only have 6 miles on it since I finished it. Felt good just to get it out and get on it. Still needs some license plates so I can't drive it very far. Still have not done a burn out with it yet.
Started sanding the surface rust off of the hood until I ran out of sandpaper.
Looks good, I polished mine a few weeks back also.
The front frame is completely cleaned and in primer. That heat is brutal, and I hurt all over from laying on the concrete. I will be paying dearly for this tomorrow. I don't have a day to recover anytime soon either, I work the next five days straight.
My brakes went out on my 74 chevy truck so I limped it back home at lunch break and drove the old reliable El Camino .
I finished welding up my firewall and got some primer and paint down on it. Tomorrow the intake, carb, and valve covers go on the engine and the engine and trans gets bolted in.
Had to work this morning, but it was a short day. So... I wet-sanded the cross member and frame rails.Stopped for lunch, then went back out just long enough to wipe it down and shoot it.

Removed a couple of 1/2" spacers on top of the rear spring perches. I didn't put them there and should have removed them when I replaced the control arms. Seems to have helped with wheel hop, we'll see.
I put mine on jack stands to change the oil and maybe change the rotors from the chinese ones to originals from a friends 70.

Looks very nice. |
Hard to believe since I finished the car in July I have been to 3 shows with it. Towed on a trailer to the shows, and the car has just sat in the garage this last month since I have been working out of state. I have only put 6 miles on it so far.
I did my oil change tonight on the chevelle but did not get to the brakes ,the boys kept me too busy on their projects .
Photobucket is once again playing nice, so here are the results of the last three days. (Tuesday, Wednesday, & today)
