I was looking for a stereo for the chev. Wow the stud type radios are getting rare as hen's teeth. I found a 160W 80 per channel with a SD Card player and a USB outlet. That don't require dash modifications. It will do for now. I wanted a detachable faced one. But they just won't fit in there. I can hunt again later but for now I happy to have the hole filled. The AM can continue to collect dust on the shelf for years to come, LOL.

Long day yesterday!
Started the day on the way to a local car show. Did a u-turn to double back to the entrance of the facility, hit it and grabbed 2nd gear, the car sputtered and shut off. 4 hours later we determined the $400 MSD ignition box took a dump, likely fried the coil in the process, as it went bad too, the rotor came apart and blew a hole in the back of the distributor cap. So the ENTIRE ignition was pulled out and basically replaced. The distributor was taken apart as one of the rotor screws disappeared and I wanted to make sure nothing got down inside before putting it all back together. http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/o...73C94E693E.jpg http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/o...D3FFB0FCB1.jpg So, we got the car running on a cheap MSD box from 1970 something until I can get a new replacement. Decided to not let the entire day be a waste and went to the local cruise in. One of the more expensive "cruise-ins" I have been to in a while as this was put on, and allowed by the local police department. http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/o...9598E967-1.jpg My DNA would not allow me to just sit by and watch a burnout competition and not participate so.... You can hear people in the crowd, "that's the one that broke down earlier." Yeah, that is right, it broke, we fixed it, and then I took it back out and beat the living snot out of it! All in a good days work! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3YA...ature=youtu.be I guess it was worth it....lol http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/o...6FC838EC59.jpg Money, quite literally, running down the drain! http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/o...FB17371BFA.jpg |
Damn ...............................What a burnout .
|
Lots of smoke for sure. Glad your having fun with it.
|
Now that's what I am talkin bout. Get down.
|
Damn Eric!!
Your mechanical "adventures" continue to amaze me. :) You've had the strangest things happen with that '70. Next time...spray a little WD40 or PAM cooking spray on that fender before the burnout. Clean up much easier. ;) |

Finally got the tie rods mounted so the car can steer again. Removed the rear seat and the panels on the rear sides. Found out I am missing a fill panel on the passenger side. It actually looks like the car was hit on that side and repaired but not very well. I unhooked the cylinders from the top so I can run them up and down to bleed out the air in the lines. Manually put the top down and you can really see the lines of how the car will look. Made me more excited to get some work done. Still debating on if I want to pull the motor and repair the leaks on the oil pan and transmission pan this fall or not. Running out of time before it goes to storage. Might just tarp it for the winter and not have the new top put on. Need to cut the extension from the master cylinder to the brake pedal because it's not long enough without it but the extension is way to long. Getting close to having brakes again though.
