Went out at 12:50 and just came back in at 2:50. Heres before and after between the houses. COME ON SPRING !!!
Surrendered a little more of the corner of the driveway today. Not much, got it piled up a little higher, about 3.5'. Fortunately the driveway is a little over 30' across there and it's beyond the garage doors so we don't need the space. The driveway is getting narrower though, the part going out to the street. It use to be around 13-14' wide, down to 10 or 11 now.
So how much snow did you get Hank ? I think we got between 4-6 inches. Depending on where you go in my yard there is more snow. The wind is blowing the snow all around so when you are done shoveling and turn around, the sidewalk is covered with snow again. I thought that I was the only one who had my two car wide driveway turn into a one car driveway. Yesterday the snow plows came down the street to widen them and left 40lb blocks of ice at the end of my driveway. I kindly pushed them back out into the street infront of the snow at the side of my driveway.

Forecast is for 1" to 5" here tomorrow afternoon of the white stuff. High today was only 29 degrees

17 degrees and about 1" of the white stuff on the ground, 7" south of us with more heading our way. I guess we are going to get winter finally for the next 3 or 4 days.
Ken I picked up my kids at 3:30pm and it was snowing here again too. I am so tired of shoveling snow. We used our snowblower to get some of it, but you still have to shovel some parts. And the last snow, a couple of days ago, my son was using the snowblower and the handle broke and we cannot use it because it connects to the frame and the metal sheered off. Bummer...but it was a little one we bought at a garage sale and it lasted a long time for the $15 we spent on it.

Wind is blowing about 35 mph so the wind chill is the minus column. I worked until noon outside and called it quits. Came home the back door way before everyone else panicked. We have had 2 twenty plus car pile ups on the main freeways already. I just put new traction tires on the company truck about 3 weeks ago, glad I did. We now have 3 inches at the house with more on the way through Saturday.
Right now its 3* with wind chill at -22*. Was out for a little bit clearing the snow from the end of the driveway thanks to the city plow. I tried shoveling it, but with my COPD I was getting out of breath really fast. Ended up using the 2 stage snow blower to get the job done. My stash had icicles hangin from it when I came inside and I wasnt out there all that long.

Ken, they plowed us again this morning too. Cleaned ours and a couple of neighbors out, my fingers were numb when I came in. That was on the tractor, not shoveling. I thought the gloves I have were good ones, maybe not. |
Started to snow around 1pm today and are expecting another 3 to 5 inches. I have some snow drifts in the back yard a couple of feet deep from the winds. Looks by Monday we are back in the 50's
50's for us is like a month or more away.
Keep changing the forecast and up to 10 inches of snow tonight into tomorrow, changing to freezing rain sometime sunday or monday before we warm up.
Stay warm and safe Ray. On the plus side I guess you guys need the rain/snow, at least northern CA does.
Thanks Hank, storm number 3 is due this afternoon. Will start as snow( 4 to 8") then the east winds are dying down and the upper air is warm so rain. We are expecting up to 1/2 inch of freezing rain, so power lines and trees will be coming down before all this is done. Still showing around 50 late Monday, so flooding might be an issue with some area's having 18 inches of snow. The mountains did get snow also and more is on the way up ther next week.
Woke up to 49* and light rain this morning. It's barely 55* now - still raining, projected high of 60*... and lots more rain, all day. Not the mid 70s they had predicted earlier this week. :grumpy:
Trying to get motivated to do something on my car, but no garage space to work on it = me not very motivated. Everything left to do requires me to lay under it, or be under the hood. I'll pass and wait for a better day. I have 12 vacation days to use this year. I know it isn't the snow and ice everyone else is experiencing, but it still isn't fun to work or drive in. |
This sucks when the biggest thing we have to talk about is the weather. Also sucks when the weather in Alaska has been better than here.

Waitin for it to quit snowin so I can start snow blowin again. We have now hit over 70" of snow so far this winter season. Thats way more than our usual 46" for a whole winter season.
Hope all this crap is gone before the end of next month when I planned on getting the car out of storage.......if not, then I gotta pay for another months worth even if its only a weeks time. |
Forecast for sleet/snow/rain mix here again Tuesday and Wednesday.
I'm out of here!!! Flying this evening to Dublin....:( |

Dublin, Ireland.......?? Beautiful there from what I'm told. Have a safe trip and enjoy.
Thanks.
Unfortunately, this trip, unlike ones in the past, isn't going to be much fun. Good friend's Mom passed away yesterday. Hopefully the trip next month (car club driving in annual St. Patty's parade) should be better. |
Bill ,give Liam and Liz a hug from us ,we knew both his mom and dad were in the hospital at the same time but we hoped and prayed for the best.
Sorry to hear about their loss. Weather today is about 38 and melting here. Rain for tomorrow and the rest of the week. I image we will have some flooding in some area's with all the snow.
Main roads are drivable again, so going to work should not be a problem. Hopefully I have work tomorrow. |
Safe travels Bill. Give Liam my best he is one of my facebbok friends.
Melting has started finally today, Still no work until weather gets better tomorrow. Looks like lots of rain on the way, but not here yet. Temps are around 43 today.
Im sitting here at work waiting for the snow/ice storm to happen or not .I was told this morning I would be here the next several days until this one passes .Man am I ever bored .
