Looking real nice, glad to hear you almost have it running again.

BillsCamino 11-14-2012 06:22 PM

I see the boys @ Mo's do engine swaps the same way I do...leave the hood on and use a lift plate.
Works awesome!!

Joan says she's gonna sell me one of yours. ;) :D

flash 11-18-2012 12:58 PM

Are you interested in a 74 Chevy pick up instead of my scooter ?

BillsCamino 11-18-2012 01:10 PM

I've actually got a decent, rust free '93 Chevy S10 Blazer 4dr for sale right now...took it on partial trade yesterday on the '66 Sedan.
Drove it from Savannah yesterday...loaded, 4.3L V6, pushbutton 4 WHEEL DRIVE, OD auto, leather, LT Tahoe trim package.
It's on C/L as of this morning...and sitting @ Edward's Tire in Woodstock.

flash 11-18-2012 06:01 PM

Got a link to your add ? Just kidding about my truck anyway as it is already sold when my 72 comes home from the bodyshop .I wish I had a bunch of trucks like my 74 as I have several guys that want it.

BillsCamino 11-18-2012 07:07 PM

Sure John...

Nothing.Waiting until I have time to restore the rear brakes and shocks

shadowgray396 11-18-2012 07:33 PM

So do you have spiral shocks on the rear?

Really ? I thought you had restored everything on your car. :)
You are going to have to take pics because I have a feeling that your brakes are probably cleaner than new ones.

Thanks guys!

Made 3 passes, all within 3 1/100s of each other.

Best was an 11.22 @ 120.57 with a 1.632 60'

I still don't feel like this car leaves very hard but I guess a mid to low 1.6 60 time isn't too bad for a 3995 pound car.

Had a pretty strong headwind the entire day as well

I know that track very well...actually most sunny days the right lane is quicker. ;)
Looks good Eric. I think I read on another post that somone was asking why the mph was the same as last motor configuration.
Probably a pretty good head wind last Sat @ Silver Dollar. Track runs East/West and is was breazy. That will scrub off a couple mph's...

fleming23 11-19-2012 10:43 AM

Well that and the MPH in question was from Paradise and their eyes at the end of the 1/8th seem to be a little off. Everything else picked up a good bit.

I stayed out of the right lane because as soon as I unloaded a tube chassis car spun and flipped about 5 times. Put it this way, the motor and trans left the track on a flat bed while the rest of the car was hauled away on something else. Seems everyone was struggling in the right lane Saturday.

carpoor 11-19-2012 01:51 PM

Are you locking the converter on the 2-3 shift? I picked up 3 MPH from doing that in my old LS1 car. A 1.6 sixty is damn good for a 4000+ lb car. I doubt you have a really loose converter in it either.

I think for the first time out, it is running really well. I went 11.48 @ 121 the first time out with my old 2000 Z28. A dozen passes later and it was running 10.70s and trapping 4.5 more MPH. Give it time, feel it out, and it will go faster in no time. The proverbial "learning curve" of a new combination.

No, and I should have done so but never even pulled the laptop out once to make adjustments. I was making passes on my "street" transmission file which has the lockup unlocked at WOT.

I thought about it last night and wondered if it would have picked up any. I will certainly try it next time out!

The converter is a fairly pricey billet 10" 4000 stall (on the tight side). When driving around town it doesn't feel like much stall at all which is what I requested.

Did you lock yours in 2nd and 3rd or just when going into 3rd?

carpoor 11-19-2012 06:07 PM

I locked mine when it applied the 2-3 shift. Definitely helped it out on the back half of the track. I had a 4L60E built by Rossler with an old Yank SY3500... it flashed closer to 4400-4600 with my engine. (the 3500 rating was figured with a stockish LS1) Was very tight around town, loosened right up as soon as I hung my foot in the throttle.

SS Shaun 11-21-2012 07:39 AM

all my parts i ordered monday should be home when i get home today :) can't wait to have some relaxing time in the garage this weekend!

shadowgray396 11-23-2012 09:34 PM

Hoping for some nice weather this next week, so I can get the chevelle out and take it for a drive.

SS Shaun 11-23-2012 09:42 PM

Replaced all of the front brake lines hard and soft. Tomorrow do the rear and have brand new brake system!

flash 11-25-2012 12:30 PM

I missed your add Bill ,didnt get back in time .

flash 11-25-2012 12:32 PM

I got Joan's convertible cleaned and ready to make the last trip of the year to Nashville next weekend .

SS Shaun 11-25-2012 07:56 PM

90% of my brake system is complete all i need now is that pressure valve and done! :) updating my build thread now :)

shadowgray396 11-26-2012 05:36 PM

Fired the Chevelle up today and let it warm up. Just when I thought I would head to the gas station it died. Ran out of gas in the driveway, at least I was not on the road. Got gas and a stabilizer treatment for it and drove it around some this afternoon with the sun out. A little cold outside, but not bad. Tach was not working so I guess I'm going to have to trace the problem down. Now it's ready for winter.

carpoor 12-04-2012 08:10 AM

Still haven't touched the Chevelle in over two months. :( Almost done with the Monte Carlo, then hoping to get back to work on the Chevelle. My QJet is still with Cliff, he told me a minimum of six months. (the end of December will be six months)

I have way too many projects going on. It would be a great problem to have if I was running a business and making money.

Ms Grumpy 12-04-2012 08:25 PM

I stopped and saw a good friend today. Someone who I haven't seen for a couple of months. We used to work together and when I would drive the Chevelle to work we would go behind a shopping center and do some awesome burnouts in my car. Anyway, I didn't do anything with my car today, other than thought about my car and had some great memories.

Where the hell is spring ?

flash 12-04-2012 09:42 PM

I didnt even get out to the shop today to look at ours .I need to give it a quicky clean up job as we are driving it to Alabama this saturday for another Christmas party.

shadowgray396 12-05-2012 09:05 AM

Mine will stay covered up until spring, and some warmer weather.

SS Shaun 12-10-2012 08:33 AM

got my wheels finally i need to get the correct lugs for it but here it is so far..lol

69chevelless 12-10-2012 02:37 PM

I wanted to drive mine on the weekend since I saw a sweet 57 Chevy in the center of town but never got to it. I don't think my back was up for sitting in a small car anyways, I went for an MRI that day.

carpoor 12-11-2012 06:49 AM

I pulled the rear seat bottom out of mine Saturday. Removed a couple of the seat belts to use in the Monte Carlo. What a learning experience this has been regarding deluxe seat belts.

My car had kind of a cobbled set of seat belts in it. I was able to find a nice set for the front and rear seats. Hoping to find time soon to finish removing the rest and install the "new" belts.

flash 12-11-2012 11:23 AM

I drove our Malibu vert to work today so I can go visit my truck at the bodyshop and see about getting some touch up work done on the vert this winter .

earthquake68 12-12-2012 08:04 AM

I can finally post something today! I got a like new set of tires for the Chevelle. I traded a guy some old outlaw II's for them that I had zero dollars in, so it worked out for me. :D

Now I just have to finish polishing the aluminum slots I have for the car so I can mount them.

Ms Grumpy 12-12-2012 09:43 AM

I was thinking about my car when I was on the e-way this morning. Then I went thru my pics and found this one.
