I took what was the last ride in the chevelle till spring and it sure was a good one.
|
Drove the new purchase 842 miles on Friday...wagon never missed a lick and got almost 19 mpg running 70-80 mph.
I LIKE this one!! Picture in signature... |
Nice looking 72 wagon Bill.
|
Nice ride, Bill! Room for the whole Brady bunch in there! :D
|
Thanks guys.
This baby's a cruiser...one of my 1st projects I've gotta rig up cruise control. |
I got going on mounting my new tires on the aluminum slots for the Chevelle. I need to get some more metal polish and some valve stems, but they're coming along. I'll post up some pictures when I get them done.
|
I went into my empty garage. The empty feeling is getting worse. I used to be able to just peek into the garage and make sure that my baby was OK. Am I the only one who has separation anxiety ?
|
I went out to the shop and looked at mine but no time to drive them plus were finally getting some much needed rain.
|
Mine is still in the garage covered up, but miss not being able to drive it. Flash you can have our rain and snow. It will not stop around here.

Looking good, I know it takes some work to get them to that point. Been there and done that. A while back I found add on craigslist in our area of a guy who has a mobile polishing business doing semi truck rims. Came out and did my pickup wheels for $80 for all four. I think they look better then when I purchase them new. Turned out to be a great option.
|
Today I got home early from work and decided to head over to work on the car. Got all of my deluxe seat belts installed in the car finally. And built a temporary link between the spindles to hold the wheels straight. (I haven't yet reinstalled the steering box and drag link.)
Not much progress, but It was another thing on my list that needed to be done. Going to spend some time with my folks, then head home. |
Yesterday afternoon the transport service finally picked up the '66 wagon I sold a few weeks ago...born and raised in NC now heading north to NJ...poor thing.
Bought new wheels and tires for the '72. :) I hate Cragar SS wheels. :( |
No need to hate them ,I like em just never owned a set yet .
|
Bill ,what wheels are you using next and where are the pics of them on the new wagon ?
|
finished cleaning up the garage some and finally opened my driveshaft box, just need to order the yoke and u joint but while i was at it i put the new valve covers and air cleaner on just to get it out the living room..lol

I started working on it
Attachment 2481 Gonna be a long road Sent from in a ditch up side down and on fire with the wheels still spinning |
It was 27 Degrees out this morning when the sound of a big block filled the morning air.
Drove mine to work for the first time in a few weeks! So glad I don't live up north!! |
Noticed a small spot of oil in the garage under the car and assumed something was just a little loose and needed tightened - oil spot was not large enough to cause concern really.
Well I crawled under the car yesterday and did some cleaning up/wiping down and checking all the various bolts that might need re-snugging. Nothing was obviously loose and the oil appeared to have no starting place except the bottom of the pan. So I wiped the pan down and continued cleaning up headers and other various areas that get road grime on them when I noticed a line of oil slowly making its way back down the pan. That is when I noticed the small hairline crack right on the front side edge of the oil pan..... iPhone doesn't really show it, but up close you can just barely see a spot where the paint is cracked right on the edge (nearest the front cross-member.) Not sure if the previous dent weakened the area or what. Hoping it can be tigged in the car - don't really want to replace the pan since the motor was JUST out of the car! http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/o...97D48D9C52.jpg |
Damn Eric...your luck!!! :(
Any idea on how that pan got dented? From the latest R & R? |
Quote:
Not sure on the dent really. I thought I remembered it having a few small dents when originally installed that were hammered out a little. The paint is not scuffed, scratched or anything to indicate it was hit when dropping it in the last time. The photo shows a dent and spot where the old paint flaked but the new paint is clean. I know one of the header tubes contacted the asphalt coming down the 75S/285E ramp but the pan looks clean so I wouldn't think that did it. Who knows, hopefully the guys at Mo's can tig it up for me with little issue. Not too worried about it. |
If not for bad luck you would have none ,hope its an easy fix.
