Yes we are John. It is not as fast as we wanted. Partially because my birthday feel on the 1st of March and I had a birthday dinner with my kids and then my daughter took me out to Micheal Symon's restaurant Roast in Downtown Detroit. We had a really nice dinner, it was a real treat. But we took a few steps backwards, but we are on the right track. Actually both of us have lost almost 40lbs so far. I don't think that is too bad for the 2 months since we have changed our diet.

Keep up the good fight. 40 lbs in two months is great progress! I am down another pound - 172... butt naked on Publix's scale. (I am not allowed to go back in there for some reason though.)
In all seriousness, I was 178 on their scale last night. That is fully dressed, essentials in my pockets, and a .45 caliber Glock handgun in my waistband. I figure the clothes, keys, wallet, & gun are good for 6 lbs of weight. That said, 2lbs to go. But, I am in horrible shape even though I am going back down in weight. The muscle tone in my upper body is next to nothing. Had a few co workers tell me that I was "in great shape before I got hurt", and that they hope I am able to bounce back to where I was. :( I have been unable to exercise due to pains in my arm. I am just too sore after a day of work to lift weights. Yet, work isn't enough - because I am not regaining muscle tone and strength. |
Believe me we are proud of the weight that we have lost. And today walking around the AutoRama I could feel how much better I felt. I did not have the lower back pain that I would have before the weight loss and even David did pretty good. We spent 4 hours walking around and in the past we might have made it 1/2 that time.
It is hard to exercise after you are hurt so for you to have lost all the weight you needed to is good. But with that said, your muscle weight was probably the first to go, or at least that is the way I was told. In time your arm will feel better and you will be able to exercise it. Slow and steady wins the race. |
Just wanted to bump this up and see how you were doing in this journey. And to mention that I had a burger at my favorite local burger joint this past Tuesday. ;)
I have been as light as 164 recently, but stay right around 168 pretty consistently. I quit my main job last week and picked up more hours at my secondary job. Back in school, started this week. I feel better already. |
Well since my last post we have done pretty good. Then I had to make a sample cake for a wedding, and of course like any good baker I had to test everything to make sure it was up to my standards.
Then 3 days later we headed off to South Carolina for 4 days, with my smoker in the trailer. I volunteered, last year, to make pulled pork for a gathering of 70 people. I also made an Antipasta salad and Waldorf salad for all of them. Traveling made it very hard to follow our healthier diet. I did take my nurtibullet but could only use it in the morning. And then I just spent the last 3 days at an Art and Craft fair with my daughter. Our eating habits have been very disrupted for the past 3 weeks. But I will say that my weight loss was 50lbs and Davids was 54lbs at the beginning of May. After everything that we have been thru for the past 3 weeks... I am at 49lbs and David is at 50lbs. We both have a lot of catching up to do, but I honestly think that we did pretty good for being away from home and our crazy schedule. Now I just have to make it thru doing a wedding cake at the end of this month. lol |
Congrats ,ya'll have done great .

You only gained one pound back after all that, I'd say that's pretty amazing. Keep up the good work! A good friend of mine is doing the whole 30 diet with his wife. He is down almost 45 lbs since January 1st. (He's trying to lose weight to make his race car faster he says.)

I have to say thank you to everyone for all the support. It makes the journey a lot easier. |
Any updates? I am holding a steady 165. I've been fairly consistent with my diet, but cheat here and there to stay sane.

Thank you for asking. I think I have hit a plateau. I just can't seem to get past 65lbs. Yep, I have lost 65lbs and I am so thrilled. It has been a month where I am up or down a few pounds but I really want to hit 70lbs. It is great other than none of my winter cloths fit. I have dropped off 2 large bags of cloths at the Salvation Army or gave some to friends to see if they could use them. I was lucky to find a cheap winter coat because mine is really big. I am still using the Nutribullet everyday, eating lean meat, chicken, turkey and avoiding fast food. Out one splurge is Pizza like we did last night.
