No ,you know the travel car is Joan's vert ,although I do plan to put some miles on it.

flash 01-24-2014 08:24 PM

I forgot to say Joan is going with me tomorrow for a visit .

shadowgray396 01-24-2014 08:35 PM

Sounds like they are finally trying to get it together, congrats

flash 01-25-2014 08:15 PM

We spent some time at the bodyshop today figuring out final details and looking over the truck .It felt good sitting in the driver seat again although the doors are not installed yet .They have the motor and trans installed and filled with oil ,they were plumbing in the carb when I left. The truck is now about 80% complete and looks better than I had originally envisioned ,man I cant wait. The attention to every small detail amazes me ,the wiring has to be just right ,almost hidden ,they are very particular about how it is going to look and function .Im am going to be very proud to own this truck and drive it every chance I get .They have the cowl hood and front fenders in primer and ready for paint ,the inner fenders are powder c oated as well as the core support .The new engine should be ready to break in early this coming week ,they have the exhaust hooked up and run out the rear .I expect the front sheet metal to start being built later this next week if nothing happens.

Sounding like a show quality truck. Need pictures, you have to be taking some I'm guessing.

flash 01-26-2014 08:32 AM

Thanks Ray for posting those for me ,I cant believe its finally getting close ,just very dusty in those pics .

carpoor 02-02-2014 06:25 PM

Looks like you are finally on the home stretch John.

BillsCamino 02-02-2014 07:40 PM

Looking great John!!! Can't wait to finally see it maybe this year.
Those valve covers look awesome too.

Quadracer392 02-02-2014 07:56 PM

Man the truck is looking really good! Won't be long till your getting some seat time in that thing!

flash 02-02-2014 09:05 PM

It should be very soon now ,Im trying to get it insured before its finished .Bill ,thanks again for hooking me up with those valve covers and the transmission . I have lots of people stopping in at the shop trying to buy my truck now that its looking nice but its a keeper. It took longer than I expected but it is worth the wait ,you would not believe the attention to details they are doing .

shadowgray396 02-03-2014 09:32 AM

I think you should chrome the rear bumper. Truck looks great either way.

Ms Grumpy 02-03-2014 09:37 AM

One of my favorite ladies is sitting in her car. :)

John your truck is looking good. I know you have to be excited to have it to this point. Any idea when you will be able to have it on the road ?

flash 02-03-2014 11:18 AM

Maybe a month ,maybe sooner ,it depends on some parts we are waiting for .

flash 02-04-2014 06:07 PM

WOO HOO ,it runs again ,they called me right after work today and told me it was broke in and they had just changed the oil and filter .I got to hear it over the phone ,I was headed to the dentist or I would have been on my way up there. I bet they will have the fenders on tomorrow .

BillsCamino 02-04-2014 07:48 PM

I hope they put some trans fluid in the torque converter before installing that new TH350...

flash 02-04-2014 08:31 PM

They did fill it up I think.

shadowgray396 02-04-2014 10:01 PM

Congrats, sounds like they are moving ahead full speed.

fleming23 02-04-2014 10:11 PM

Bill, is that the trans that came out of my car way back when??

No Eric...this one is brand new rebuilt I bought off a guy I worked with.
Your's is in a buddy's pickup truck still as far as I know. I haven't seen the guy in about 6 months.
Gosh...I forgot about that deal...we've had so many. :D

Just curious.... Always good to know where the original parts to my car are floating around should the day come with the world freezes over and I actual sold this hunk of money. Not sure why someone would want to remove a 700hp big block and 6 speed to go back to 270hp 350/TH350 but ya never know....

Truck is looking good John! Been a long road to this point!

flash 02-05-2014 01:42 PM

It has been a long road for sure but it will be worth the wait .

Ms Grumpy 02-05-2014 05:18 PM

I am so happy for you John. It has been a long time coming. How is your weather down there right now ? When you get your truck are you going to be able to take it right out ?

flash 02-05-2014 05:53 PM

Our weather right now is cloudy and cold ,34 degrees with high winds . Im not sure how I will deal with the weather when the truck is done .The bodyshop may not let it out until its sunny as it has to have a photo shoot outside below the shop sign so that it can have a framed photo next to the Chevelle . They got a couple of wrecks in so it may slow down a little bit but they are ready for it to come home as am I. I am finally getting very excited about it.

flash 02-09-2014 09:46 PM

The truck is fully assembled now and the shop owner took it for a short test drive .It has a few minor problems that need to be worked out ,the front brakes are grabbing badly which may just be sticky calipers ,the trans is not shifting right and the carb needs a little fine tuning .The original parking light assemblys were so corroded they could not get new bulbs in so I have those ordered .It needs an alignment ,a little undercoating under the rear wheelwells and the they need to cut and buff the paint .I have more pics that we will try to send to Ray to post for us .I think you will like it ,I know I do.

shadowgray396 02-09-2014 10:21 PM

Send them my way and I will post them for you.

Quadracer392 02-10-2014 12:35 PM

Can't wait to see some pictures. That thing looked sharp in the last set of pictures you had. Hope the bugs are easy to take care of.

Ken Hayes 02-10-2014 01:49 PM

Nice, very nice.

flash 02-10-2014 03:25 PM

Thanks for posting those for me Ray ,it has turned out pretty nice ,now if we can get the trans working .They have a few wrecks they have to deal with and Im stuck at work the next several days due to the upcoming possible ice storm so it may be a while before anything else gets done.

BillsCamino 02-11-2014 01:54 PM

John,
whats wrong with the trans???
I'm in Dublin right now and not sure when I'll get back home...all flights in/out of ATL are canceled for tomorrow and morning on Thurs

flash 02-11-2014 03:46 PM

Bill ,it only has high gear ,wont take first or second .A couple of local mechanic says something may just be stuck but it would cost as much to take it back out and see as having another one rebuilt so Im going to have the original one rebuilt even though it worked fine when we took it out just to be sure. Bill ,travel safe ,the weather here sucks .I had to spend the night on campus last night as they thought the weather was going to be bad ,just had rain though. Tonight is expected to be worse and they let us come home.
