Project has really been moving ahead. Still doing all the work myself with the help of my son, when he can come down to help hang rock. Almost ready for cabinets.

Looks like you've been busy Ray. Looking good, now you're down to the detail work, cabinets, trim and a little paint. Good job.

FlintTony 12-05-2017 04:54 PM

Looks real good from here! I like the receptacle in the end of the knee wall. Smart move. Makes it at least twice as hard when you work by yourself, doesn't it?

shadowgray396 12-11-2017 02:34 PM

Really taking shape now. Installed the shower doors so I will be able to take a shower now. I ordered the glass 80" tall so I don't have to duck to get into the shower. Just have one room left down stairs to sheet rock. Then I can texture the ceilings and start the install of the cabinets for the kitchen.

Aaaah! I hate drywall dust. Nice work, you've come a long ways since you started. looks like a totally different place.

Looking good Ray ,I think you need to try out the shower .

shadowgray396 02-20-2018 02:39 PM

This last weekend was texture ceiling day, did a California knock down on it. All of the lower part of the house is now sheet rocked and repairs to my garage wall are almost done. House is really starting to come together. I have all the flooring on site and the kitchen cabinets are finally ordered.

Wife has picked her color, light grey

The last piece is the stairwell.
http://chevelleforum.org/picture.php...pictureid=4916Built a temporary floor, so no ladder work over the stairs.
http://chevelleforum.org/picture.php...pictureid=4917

Maybe by July we are done. I need to get back to working on cars. Lol

shadowgray396 07-02-2018 11:44 AM

Wife and I had a little bonding time this weekend. Lol. Got the kitchen cabinets, came in 116 boxes. Little assembly required. Might actually have this finished by end of summer.

The last room to finish the taping on. Just an extra area for sleeping up stairs. I raised the ceiling by a foot so you can walk down the center without ducking.

Hank70SS 07-16-2018 05:32 PM

Moving right along Ray. Place is really coming together.

shadowgray396 09-04-2018 02:27 PM

Been working on it, but been having power issues. House is completely rewired with new breaker panel. Turns out the meter base has conveniently gone bad after the power company put in a new smart meter in. Looks like a set back at this point. Only have one leg working in the house, so no 220 volts. Not sure what this is going to cost to replace. My base is built into the wall of the house.

Hank70SS 09-05-2018 05:39 PM

Open the meter box and see if you have 2 hot legs coming into meter and 2 coming out. Don't worry about breaking the seal, workers open them all the time when they need 220 power when working outside.

The power here sucks. We have a whole house standby gen, so do the people behind us, 2 across the side street. Next store and across the street have portable gens. We lose 1 leg a lot, may only be for a few seconds but enough to mess things up. I have a battery backup on the DVR and TV, one on the modem and one on the desktop PC. That's a lot of crap because they can't give us decent power.

shadowgray396 10-19-2018 03:09 PM

Meter base has been replaced. now onto the final touches on the house.

shadowgray396 11-08-2018 02:51 PM

Guess it's time to get serious about doing the finish work on this house. Been busy the last 3 weeks and wife is finally going to get the counter tops figured out and a kitchen sink. (one would think this would have been done already, Lol) . Up stairs just need the floor repaired and trim put on. Thinking about doing a painted simulated wood floor for now up there. I hate doing patch work, I think its more work then if I had just started over at times.

Nice work Ray, looks really good. You're going to have a brand new place when you get done.

shadowgray396 12-24-2018 01:59 PM

Well the project continues to move forward. Ready to start the leveling process on the floors this New years weekend and once the gold platted sink arrives (Kidding, just not cheap) the counter tops can be measured cut and be installed. Just trim work to complete. Should finally be done by spring. Yah, I ready to be done. Look at the difference. I put this stair case in 3 times to satisfy the wife.

You do nice work Ray. That's an awful big project you took on.

shadowgray396 01-04-2019 02:02 PM

Spent my Birthday weekend again working on the wife's project. Leveling floors, way more work then I thought. I'm getting to old for this, lol.

Looking good Ray. I know what you mean getting to old for this LOL.

Hank70SS 01-07-2019 02:41 PM

Looks good. Your floor is very similar looking to the floor I put in our family room.

shadowgray396 01-28-2019 02:13 PM

Finally got the floor to feel and look correct. I took this floor up 5 times to relevel and to get it to lock together correctly. Seems like a seam wanted to come apart on this floating floor. it was a long weekend being on my knees. Still sore. lol
http://chevelleforum.org/picture.php...pictureid=4978

Started on the fire place area. Have a mantle to install and a TV.
http://chevelleforum.org/picture.php...pictureid=4979

and finally set the kitchen sink so the counter top people can measure for the counters. Sink only weighs 160 lbs. Dishwasher and Fridge are all hooked up. All the hardware put on the cabinets. Just the stove to go.

Lately its been every weekend at this project. All inspections are done except plumbing. One room at a time and now the kitchen is fully operational after 5 years.

Setting the bar high for trimming the doors and windows. Keeping with the style of the house which is craftman. The top header takes four different power tools to build. Also got on all the back splash in the kitchen installed
