My picture hosting site is screwing up. I got the hump in 4 console mounts. To deal with the console not fitting right. It is all over the internet on that one. I made and bent a new trans hump. Make it match the console.
I got the tar paper sound deadening. People kill me i was reading on it. They crying nothing holds it down it is garbage bla bla bla. Wow these guys are just no talents. Went in easy peasy, And i giggled as I read them crying. wow how did you get the old out. Seems to me you don't meed nothing to keep it in. It will attach all by its self over time. Carpet is in ad I letting it just lay. It is the moulded stuff so it fits real well. Got weights on the floor helping it relax in. While it is doing its thing I am fooling with the seats on the workbench. This gonna take a while. Wow they nasty inside. Clean and paint the wires then reassemble. Anyway it is my thing to do again. Off the back burner. I will post pics once the internet straightens out. |
Anyway I got one seat bottom cleaned up and painted working on the top now. Wow it is nasty dusty like opening a Egyptian pyramid.
I was reading how this was a issue for everyone the way the silly console sat. So I made my own 4 braces to hook it to. Made a false trans tunnel so it is sitting on the floor again. I going to let the carpet just lay in there while I fool with the seats. I am going to my brothers to get a bucket of hog rings and he got left over burlap. If I need more it is cheap enough at JoAnns where I got the boat interior materials. Still plugging along. I was teasing my wife wont be long it will need tires. Those on it came off my van 10 years ago because the belts separated and they were leaking through the tread. I don't think they gonna hold up to a 700 hp burn out. Or what ever this pig ends up having. Site days only 6 images so the other 3 be in a post by themselves. https://i.postimg.cc/gjBs09wR/20191231-111937.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/3N6jTg6F/20191231-113753.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/ryYNxkmR/20191231-125236.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/mrJFhbVT/20200102-164135.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/cJgrppW2/20200103-190310.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/zvjBw5wb/20200107-125216.jpg |

Yesterday I cleaned up the bows and tackless and painted them. Today I put in the tackless I got. I am missing one piece and am waiting for it. Ebayed it. Got the insulation glued in. I got the headliner in hanging by the bows. Enough fun for one day. My back seat material is on the way now. And the a pillar pads. I need to do bodywork and paint the headliner side mouldings. I will start making sail panels next. Kill the time I got to wait. Then continue trim in the carpet it is about time. It is laying in pretty good. I got a bunch to do left as anyone who has done this knows. Goal is spring boat weather. I think I be done long before it gets warm. Pull the motor back out go back to building that thing. https://i.postimg.cc/FRD4fPbN/20200118-122422.jpg |
Making progress. Had to go get metal rods for repairs. I got more burlap. I am very happy with the seat back for the rear seat. Bottom is also repaired and painted ready to assemble.
Plastic for the bucket seat bases is on back order. They say feb something. I got plenty to keep me busy till they get here. Chuggin along. https://i.postimg.cc/Kv4k7vGh/202001...02-640x640.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/d3f0NrsP/202001...20-640x640.jpg |
Headliner is finished. I got a few odds and ends on the way. carpet door panels and kick panels are the main things left.

I bought it from a guy and it came with tubs and tubs of parts. Anyway it is done as I can do it now., I got the plastic seat bases on back order. Next order of business is make relocation brackets for the drivers seat. I saw some they sell I will just make me a set. I am going to move it back 3 inches. I am taking a break right now and letting my poor hands heal. Doing these seats beats your hands to death. I glued felt on the shift gate to get the clacking when you shift to go away. I am still pondering where i am going to put the button for the overdrive. With the shift gate it cant go on the shifter. I been shopping crate motors and motor parts. I gonna build what i got. But i still shopping never know what may pop up. |
Well todays adventure was one I am sure you all know about. The naascar steering wheel effect. I aint with that so much. I moved the seat back 2 inches. LOL if you go back farther it would look silly because it be touching the back seat practically.
But I "Al Franken" am very happy with it now. |
Are you putting a gear vendors overdrive in it?

I been cutting carpet for the trunk. I got charcoal grey for in there. Just something I wanted to do since I was a kid. Everybody did it back then. I made loops of nylon rope and epoxy it into place. Both n the car and on the carpet. Easy to sand off if I ever want to. Then I am going to paint it the speckled paint. Zip tie it is so it is easy to remove if i need to for any reason. I know it isnt everyones thing. I like it. Wife ask if i was doing anything to the trunk it looked nasty. And that was all it took for me to go down memory lane. https://i.postimg.cc/Jh1fyrR2/202002...38-640x640.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/sXxbcTQP/202002...32-640x640.jpg |
I am going to do something similar to my 68. I plan on buying one of those pre made wood kits for the trunk and covering it with either carpet or vinyl. I feel that if I didn't - it would take away from all the other stuff I am doing... LS swap, tubular suspension, big brakes, etc.
Seeing your progress reminds me that I really need to get back to wet sanding and buffing my 72. |
Yea it was a popular thing to do when I was 16 in 1976 lol. I like it. It looks nice. The trunk carpet. It just didnt look finished without it, I did the speckled paint and all that. But it is mine and i am probably the only one who will ever see it.
I am taking a small break right now doing house work that been neglected, Not like before only a week or 2. Then pull the motor back out and start rebuilding it, I got to do the brakes on this thing still. I need some lines and master cylinder. Calipers and I dont know if these rotors on it can be cleaned up or not. They got rust. LOL it has been 15 years since I put the 69 spindles and rotors on. Rear brakes are completely new. I am sure the drums need cleaned up after all these years to. But they are new to, https://i.postimg.cc/Y0ZKvPxy/brakes.jpg LOL you working on you 72 was putting a fire under me to work on mine again. The brackets I made for the bucket seat. Moving it back a additional 2 inches. That made all the difference in the world sitting in it. |
You're as bad as me with multiple projects going on. I am still not finished with wet sanding and buffing. My dad always seems to pull me in to help with his stuff. I have his 72 ElCamino half apart, and been putting in time getting his 72 Malibu ready to be sold. No one really seemed interested as a roller. So, making it a project that runs - moves and stops. Maybe have better luck selling, despite being priced higher.
|
LOL yep I got a million things going on. I actually started cleaning the garage since the boat and this stage of the car is done. Get some room for the next step.
|
Well the tach works but reads wrong because it is attached to the MSD. I found online it was normal. So after looking i found a tachmatch it is called. you adjust the reading till it is correct. So I ordered one and it is on the way.
