Wow that sux. Gut I know and on his truck. They said it was time for a programming upgrade. Sent a signal to shut it down Via onstar. Had the horses loaded and the trailer on it. Was about to go to a horse show. Won't start. Says bring in for service.
Had to tow the truck in for the upgrade. They literally don't call check nothing. Just shut the truck down so he can't drive it. The new service is ridiculous.

Trucks in the shop. More items shut down this morning. Looks like I'm going to be late for work.

carpoor 07-13-2016 01:53 PM

Wow... sorry to hear that Ray.

shadowgray396 07-13-2016 02:45 PM

Just got told I won't get the truck back for about 3 weeks. The part is on back order, so the computer in the truck is not operating.

I hope they gave you a new loaner truck.

I would fact check that with the guy that told you that story, Onstar will not shut down a vehicle for service. The only time they will is if the vehicle is report stolen or kidnapping and they have the permission for the owner and police and then only in a safe situation will they shut it down. They can all do it for non payment but that is a lot of paperwork to do that including court order.

One of my friends is a high ranking manager with Onstar and when I showed home this post he told me that in now way will they ever shut vehicle down for a service call.

Okay maybe he was confused. I don't know. But He believes that is what happened. Maybe it just locked up like shadowgreys. All i know is computers in cars are used way to much.

Trust me I know, I had the whole instruments panel and touch screen go out on my wife's Ford and it cost me 500 to get it fixed and it had just went off warranty.

They should go pull the part out of one of the trucks on the lot. JMHO

I agree with that. I'm giving them a week.

chevymaher 07-17-2016 07:39 AM

When things like this happen. What am taunted with for not liking computers in cars just rings in my ears. "They are better and easier" Funny extra time and money don't seem easier to me.

I feel for you Ray.

carpoor 07-26-2016 06:43 PM

Any luck Ray?

shadowgray396 07-27-2016 08:33 PM

Truck came home today with the new and improved chip installed. Managed to get it back in 2 weeks.

chevymaher 07-28-2016 10:16 AM

Good deal at least that is over.

shadowgray396 07-29-2016 11:24 PM

So far so good.

Ms Grumpy 07-31-2016 08:12 PM

Keeping fingers crossed for you Ray.

shadowgray396 09-06-2016 07:58 PM

Took the truck to the coast and back on Sunday. 25.6 miles to the gallon. For a V8 I was impressed. Been running around 18 miles per gallon to work and back. Tundra got maybe 15 tops most of the time.

carpoor 09-07-2016 08:41 PM

Wow, that's excellent. I am driving a Chevy Cruze LTZ rental car currently, it's averaging a little over 30 - mostly highway. I am slightly disappointed.
