Looks good Shawn, but curious why you went black on the WP rather than orange or aluminum/silver.

Moving Forward again

Got a few parts back from the powder coater Friday, they match the pulley I painted very well. Getting ready to send out the clutch for the fan to be rebuilt and the original disc brake caliphers. Carb is also headed out to see if it can be saved. If not a hunt will start for a correct carb and I'm sure it going to be a few bucks to replace.

nice man! good luck with everything!

I'm not sure on the black water pump look either. Just doesn't have the bling to me. But build it the way you like it.

Sadly, haven't worked on it in over two weeks. Haven't felt up to it to be honest. I struck a deal with an old friend to sell him my 2001 Camaro SS today. Hoping to wrap that deal up within the next few weeks. Going to tidy it up and get it ready to go to a new home. Progress on my 72' should move along much quicker without an additional car to maintain/wash/etc.

With a little luck, I may be able to make some improvements on my truck, buy a trailer, and make it to a race with the car later this year. If not, I'll be quite happy to dial it in at my local track in prep for one.

Hope you can save it! I think I told you what I had to pay for my Q-jet.:(

Definitely not cheap, when I first started looking for one for my own car... was told $500 - $800 for a core. I was patient, and found someone reasonable - paid $250 shipped. Still hurt to pay that much for a crusty old carb that needs rebuilding. But, didn't sting as bad as the other prices I got. It's amazing how much more a QJet for a manual trans sells for vs. a QJet for an auto. I bought a spare automatic QJet for $30 shipped. (PN 7042220) The stick BBC cars call for a PN 7042215.

i spent this week decoding my wiring harnesses so i know whats what when i put it in the car. tonight i should have my dash harness complete. so that means i only have the headlight harness to figure out. as for the comments on the black parts on my motor you will see the big picture soon. i think its coming together the way i am picturing it. I have a black rad holder (not sure what its called) and a black air cleaner lid and looking for some black valve covers. when ever i build a car the first thing i do is come up with a theme of the car. the paint the vision the idea. my chevelle is going to have a custom paint job thats going to match the motor in a way. its not going to be that chevy orange but its going to be in the family :) so under the hood i want it to keep the same theme as what i am going for with the car :)

I checked out my headlight bezels, cause there is another post that covers the difference between the '71 and the '72. And I am pretty sure that I have the right ones. Whew ! I had to pull back the cover to get to the headlights...MAN..do I wish it was spring !
