No, Tony had it and I bought it off him...the horn still does not work so I have some work to do to figure it out.

You are welcome. It looks real good in there. Bet it feels good too. Thanks again for the goodies.

fleming23 07-06-2013 10:33 PM

Even though it isn't correct, I wouldn't mind having a real wood SS wheel in my 70.

Maybe I'll put a teak wood wheel in the Vette instead.

mestorod70 07-07-2013 09:40 AM

SS Shaun 07-07-2013 10:50 PM

Ms Grumpy 07-08-2013 09:37 PM

I wish I could say that I did something with my car. Maybe this weekend, it just needs to stop raining, especially on the days where I don't have anything to do except to go out for a cruise.

carpoor 07-09-2013 07:12 PM

I got some more parts today. :)

SS Shaun 07-09-2013 09:21 PM

ordered my exhaust for the chevelle and a new fuel pump for the rx5.7 hoping to see both cars back up and running this weekend :)

fleming23 07-10-2013 07:08 AM

Making a little progress on mine!

The tunnel is going to need to be cut to the firewall to make sure everything clears but it is all bolted in right now and just barely touching near the bellhousing. This car does not have original floor pans but the clearance issues are not nearly as bad as I thought it might be.

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/o...g?t=1373415344

This is another mess that is going to be cleaned up! The 4L80E computer was snaked through the dash harness so I had to basically disconnect and pull down everything I could. The steering column is out and the new pedals are in but before the wires get tucked back, some serious organization needs to be done!

WOW ,You have been busy .All I have done is to try and dry the carpet of the vert where it got soaked during our last trip ,the top has started leaking on the driver side .

Hank70SS 07-10-2013 06:47 PM

Removed the a-pillar trim, dash pad and the plastic pieces that fit in the bottom corners of the rear window. Windshield is cracked so having it removed tomorrow along with the rear glass. I have some cleanup to do along the bottom of both windows. Then I'll take back to have the glass installed.

Kinda sucks because this weekend is supposed to be nice but gotta get it done when I can.

carpoor 07-11-2013 06:51 PM

More parts the past two days. Hoping this is the last of it. I had big plans to work on the car this Saturday. But, looks like a storm is comming through this weekend. And I am buying a truck Saturday morning. :D I decided on what I wanted, and am going with it. Hoping to have it down to this truck and the Chevelle by the year's end.

fleming23 07-11-2013 07:54 PM

Mine might actually be driving again by this weekend!

The Quicktime bellhousing seems to be pretty narrow which lessened the amount of cutting required to make the T56 fit. Still a pretty big section but not nearly as much cut out as some I have seen who do this swap.

Just temporary

Welded in place and seam sealed - the wiring fiasco is getting better too!

Ms Grumpy 07-12-2013 07:51 PM

Wow everyone has really been busy. John sorry to hear about the vert. You are still bringing it to the NOCC show.

flash 07-12-2013 07:54 PM

It will be at the NOCC Show with or without carpet ,cant wait .

SS Shaun 07-12-2013 11:48 PM

so i wired it i did everything and here the results

http://youtu.be/VWCdkzA3dvs

http://youtu.be/bJ-G0hLeYOo

something is missing from the steering column for some reason it seems like a shaft is missing to hit the ignition but we got it all wired and full exhaust i am so happy so far

shadowgray396 07-13-2013 08:06 PM

Went to a car show today, only 12 cars showed up out of the 50 that had signed up. I have car shows the next 2 weekends to be at. Next week is our club show and the following weekend is my brother inlaws show that I helping also with. Next Friday I'm getting the pinion seal replaced and a front end alignment check done on the car before I drive it much more.

What did you do with grandsport ??? (But I am happy to hear this)

Hank70SS 07-14-2013 06:51 AM

Had the windshield and rear window pulled the other day. Started cleaning the 50 lbs of crap from the pinch weld area. Some urethane, some butyl and some mystery goop, what a mess.

I used Butyl only with no urethane. I also had to use a special pinch weld primer before using the Butyl. No mess

Hank70SS 07-14-2013 05:01 PM

A good glass shop won't use butyl to set a windshield. It's not approved and if the windshield pops out in an accident and someone follows it out of the car you can sue them if they did use butyl. From what I found Chevy did not use butyl on these cars although many people think they did. They used some type of adhesive and a cloth covered damn, maybe even butyl inside, to keep the adhesive from squeezing out where it's visible. Don't recall the name of products they used, that was over a year ago. A lot of the info was from guys that worked in the assembly plants back in the day.

A lot of people do use butyl rope and if the window pops out that's probably the least of your problems. Just stating what I found in my research.

Got my rear window installed, what do you think? The old one was clear and let in too much sunlight. This one definitely blocks a lot more sunlight.

Started cleaning out the pinch weld today. Cardboard will hopefully keep some of the crap out of car. A brass wire wheel to remove the urethane, butyl, and mystery goop I couldn't scrap and cut out. Spot blaster to remove the rust Not too much, lower corners as expected. Didn't get the rear finished today, close to 90* this afternoon. Once the sun moved past the shed and I was in the sun I quit. Don't really want to blast that crap out inside the garage. I'll have to start early tomorrow to take advantage of the shade. Then on to the front windshield.

melonhead 07-14-2013 06:31 PM

finally fired it up in the car. need to add the catch cans, and top off the trans and then we're good to go for a ride

I'd be scared to do that to mine with the vinyl top as I'd expect the worst. In 1981 I went to Alabama and bought a 73 Elcamino and it was nice and when broke the back window out it was so rotted that I had to spend big bucks to have it redone just to hole the window in.

Hank70SS 07-15-2013 06:54 AM

A vinyl top can hide a lot of sins. My car was stripped down when I bought it. Along with the bumpers, front clip and engine, all the trim was off. No obvious rust at that time and it's been kept in a garage since then. The only rust was under the window and sealer and isn't that bad for a 43 year old car.

fleming23 07-16-2013 02:33 PM

Slowly but surely getting mine back together....

I did a little interior work myself today Eric...

Installed the freshly recovered middle seat back into the wagon...which I picked up yesterday from Keys.
But, I have run out of original patterned SMS material now so will have to order a yard or two of each design to replace the 3rd seat cover. Sounds like a project for this winter.
Sadly, only the front bench was ripped on the driver side but after it was redone, the other seats vinyl were showing up faded. :(
Cost to replace all three seats now has become pricey.

Oh well, off to the Ohio show in two weeks!!!

fleming23 07-18-2013 08:28 AM

Drive shaft will be back today!

I am ready to go bang through some gears!!!!!!!! It has been nearly 2 years since my last manual and I have definitely missed it!

I probably should call up Moser and have an M9 9" built because this 12 bolt is not going to be happy once I get a few break-in miles on the transmission

SS Shaun 07-19-2013 08:25 AM

got my gas tank all done. with the new cap and everything. went to bleed the brakes and it was leaking from the proportion valve so i gave up for the night. it was about 98 degrees outside and it must of been about 115 in my garage...lol today i am going to put in my fans and wire it all up and get my battery to see what happens :)
