Had the pinion seal replaced today with the help of a friend, front end alignment is done. Turns out I had it really close when I put it together. Car needs a good cleaning for tomorrows show. Next project is figure out where I have an oil leak at. May be the left valve cover. Also layed a little rubber down today.

flash 07-19-2013 07:53 PM

I sprayed bed liner in the trunk of the vert after work today.

BillsCamino 07-19-2013 09:58 PM

Removed the complete front suspension from the '70 wagon today.
I've had new inner/outer tierods, sleeves, a-arm bushings, center link, ball joints, idler arm, & sway bar links sitting in a box all year.
Figured what the hell... I'll rebuild the front end before the trip to Ohio. Most was in decent condition but the bushings are dried out and cracked.
So....

Rattler 07-19-2013 10:45 PM

I sanded down one side of the chevelle today. Way too much work to be doing it in this heat, but it's got to be done. ;)

Quadracer392 07-20-2013 08:06 AM

I installed a new fuel tank and sending unit last night now the fuel guage works and I don't have to worry about rust in the fuel line. I'm going be working on getting the front brakes working today.

Believe it or not, I actually was able to wash my car AND go to a car cruise. It seems like it has been forever. Maybe because it has been. But we actually had a nice day in Michigan.

shadowgray396 07-21-2013 02:03 AM

Car went back to a dealership today for the first time since it was sold at one. Had our club show today and I feel it was a sucess. A lot of hard work was put into it by all. Car was there as a display only car for our show.

Ms Grumpy 07-21-2013 08:42 PM

Wow Ray. What an honor for a beautiful car.

Ms Grumpy 07-21-2013 08:46 PM

This was the cruise last night at a local A & W, which is only 1 1/2 blocks from my house.

Today was a trip to Dooley's. I noticed a small vibration at 65mph. I also noticed that the steering wheel was a little off center. So this week I will be getting a front end alignment.

Looks like a fun time for you and your son. Sometimes I wish my son was younger so we would spend more time together at cruise ins.

Same here Ray...mine turns 40 next month!! He's getting old. :D
They live about an hour away and we get to hang out often but not able to do much weekend car stuff anymore...wife and two kids keep him busy.

I picked up some paint for the driveshaft stripes last Tuesday. Been sitting here for days thinking about all of the things I could be doing if I wasn't injured. :(

That has to suck. Last week was so hot and humid I couldn't get a lot done on mine. Sunday was supposed to be cooler and less humid. Spent the day cutting up a large, 12", tree branch that came down. The neighbor helped then we went over and cut down an apple tree in his yard spent that split. Needless to say, not much got done on the Chevelle. Today I'm pretty sore and tired from moving logs and dragging branches, another day that not much got done.

Ms Grumpy 07-22-2013 09:12 PM

Ray, my eldest son is 26 and lives in Texas. I had my car since he was about 10, but q
1/2 the time it wasn't running so he did not get to spend a lot of Cruise time with me. Besides at that time we had grumpy's Jeep Commando and the kids loved to ride in the Jeep with the top and sides off. But I will say that my eldest thinks he has 1st dibbs on my car if, and when, I can't drive it anymore.

Hey, when is your surgery? Hope all goes well.

RBeckman 07-23-2013 07:05 AM

Needed a stress relief from all the crap going on at work and went out and did a 5K hole shot and hit second gear....I felt better.

Oh yeah had to put a new carb return spring on it ($.30 and 2 minutes of my time).

SS Shaun 07-23-2013 09:45 AM

installed my fan and wired it and tested it all working good pretty much cleaned up the engine bay and it looks a lot better now so close i can taste it :)

No idea, it's like pulling teeth. Got a call this afternoon from my case worker. Hoping to go see the surgeon by the end of the week. I want this done and over with.

Hank70SS 07-23-2013 06:09 PM

Is it painful? Mine isn't, not sure if I completely tore it or just aggravated it. The MRI from almost 2 years ago indicated a partial tear along with a partial tear of the rotator cuff. Surgeon was all set to operate, "well we'll see how bad it is, may just snip the rest of the tendon and be done with it." That means your bicep muscle slides down to your elbow. I told him to shoot some cortisone in the shoulder and I was out of there. It was the shoulder that really hurt.

I'd already spent a few weeks in the hospital and a few months on crutches from the fractured pelvis. Didn't want to go through months of recovery from the shoulder surgery, I'd had enough.

Hope they get things worked out for you soon so you can get on the road to recovery.

carpoor 07-23-2013 06:16 PM

It was VERY painful when it happened. Still very sore, and hurts bad if I move wrong. My arm is in a sling most of the time, I pack pillows around it when I sleep. Pretty much have limited use of my right arm, swelling in my right hand.

SS Shaun 07-24-2013 09:13 PM

got my chevelle on the ground it looks amazing to see it on the ground :)

Sounds so painful, I hope it heals quickly for you.

SS Shaun 07-24-2013 10:37 PM

BillsCamino 07-25-2013 03:51 PM

Got the front suspension and complete disc brake rebuild project completed this afternoon on the wagon.
Along with new fan belts, hoses, and valve cover gaskets...I'm now ready for the trip to the Ohio show next week.
That is...I will be after a front end alignment appointment on Monday... ;)

Ms Grumpy 07-25-2013 08:38 PM

Got a front end alignment and a nightmare oil change. I am so glad the day is over. Tomorrow I will start with a tire balancing at 8am. Just hoping tomorrow goes better than today.

shadowgray396 07-25-2013 08:50 PM

Need to clean the car up for a car show again on Saturday. Helping my brother inlaw with his show.

fleming23 07-26-2013 10:43 AM

Drove the "hulk" to work today! Hopefully it'll be an uneventful trip!

shadowgray396 07-27-2013 09:19 PM

Get to clean off the hamburger grease off my car tonight from the barbeque smoke today at the car show. I was parked at least 100 ft from it today, but still got on the car.

Roy '65 07-27-2013 09:42 PM

Dropped off at the upholstery shop for new headliner, package tray, carpet and getting the console done. Hope to have it back next week.

carpoor 07-28-2013 10:26 AM

With only one "good" arm, I went out and accomplished this:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps5a6d1772.jpg

Not an exact, perfect restoration. (most concourse restorations have Quanta polish their drive shaft, then apply the stripes in a lathe) But, I drive all of my junk. So, used a wannabe "bare steel" paint, satin clear, and then used some basic enamel paints for the stripes today. I had the main drive shaft done about a month ago, just hadn't had time to get down to the paint store to get three pints of what I needed for the stripes. Truly wanted to do more, but I am just unable to do much right now. :(

Ms Grumpy 07-28-2013 07:20 PM

Not to bad for the one armed man. lol
