Still just rain down here...and I've got a generator. Should have brought it over to them yesterday.
Worse case, they can all stay in the 22' Coachman travel trailer parked in their driveway.

I had a new gas meter installed in January. When we get back we're getting a 17kw automatic gen. The portable works fine but it doesn't start itself at 3 AM or refuel itself. We lose power too often and for too long a stretch. We are the very last house on the last transformer on the power line. When we lose power we're a low priority, time for an upgrade.

I used my portable generator last night til bedtime ,it only powers certain outlets for some reason and some lights but better than nothing .When we went to bed I could not sleep as it was too quiet .I would love to have one like you are planning ,maybe someday .

BillsCamino 02-17-2015 01:54 PM

My son's power came back on a few hours later. He went to work as usual this morning. Said the 60 mile drive wasn't any problem...

I've got more ice in my freezer than what is in this county. And I live on the extreme northern side of it.
But of course, NO school today.

Many of the schools are used for voting locations.

All our voting is now mailed to us and we drop them off a drop sites or mail them back in. No more going to schools or public places to vote like we use to do. Been that way for 15 years.

Sunny and about 60 all week. Need to get the Chevelle back out. Tried to mow yesterday but I guess the lawn mower had other idea's. Won't start. Ran like 3 weeks ago???????

flash 02-17-2015 02:33 PM

We still have ice all over the trees here ,and lots of broken limbs .Canton got nothing and thats only 6 miles away .Crews are out in force trying to get broken trees out of the roadways ,most power is back on .

carpoor 02-17-2015 05:23 PM

Beautiful and sunny until noon, then dark skies and rain ever since. :(

That's spot on!

flash 02-18-2015 05:50 PM

It is currently 23 degrees out with very brisk winds ,Im ready for spring .A neighbor out the road from us was blocked in her driveway by downed limbs so I got my tractor out and cleared her driveway ,man it was cold out there .We still have ice covered trees everywhere .

shadowgray396 02-18-2015 09:11 PM

Finally got the lawn mower running tonight. Mowed until 7pm with just a light shirt on. We have no ran in sight through the weekend. I need to get my winter trimming done on the trees this weekend. There are starting to bud already.

BillsCamino 02-20-2015 08:48 AM

Tired of all this cold crap.
Flying to FL tomorrow morning to thaw out.

chevymaher 02-20-2015 09:06 AM

Watch out we having a heat wave of drink lots of liquids and stay out of the direct sun.

17 degree high expected. Warm enough for the salt to work at least.

Went and got a new space heater for the durango. She toasty warm inside again.

flash 02-20-2015 11:42 AM

They are predicting some more wintry crap for us and there for Im having to work the next 24 hours straight ,overtime like this sucks .Not only is it very boring but its a big waste of time ,Id rather be at home .

carpoor 02-20-2015 03:57 PM

It was 28* this morning when I left for work. (5am)

flash 02-20-2015 10:38 PM

Well so far we have gotten through the first wave of snow and we spred 40 bags of ice melt all over campus .The next wave is supposed to be freezing rain and I was hoping to go home at 8 AM and here it is going on midnight and the second wave has not yet arrived . Im going to try to go to bed around midnight for a few hours and see what hits next .I am dog tired after being on the run since 7 this morning ,just waiting for my sleeping meds to kick in and turn my lights out .I am way too old to work this way .

FlintTony 02-21-2015 05:47 AM

I hope that you got some rest John. The weather station says you are getting some nasty stuff down there. This getting old shit is no fun is it?

carpoor 02-21-2015 06:55 AM

Heat wave! Currently 39*...

Hank70SS 02-21-2015 07:03 AM

62 at 7 am here in south Fl. Got down to 36 Thursday night. Had to turn on the furnace, electric heaters couldn't keep this motorhome warm. Supposed to be in the low 70's today.

chevymaher 02-21-2015 07:27 AM

Got to pick up the wife in a hour. About to go out and unbury the truck from snow. I get to shovel twice today. Once now and later once it actually stops snowing. This batch is over the rim on the durango so far.
Won't be bad driving tho. Deep fresh snow with no ice. Practically summer compared to a few days ago. Or what coming later for that matter. Freezing rain over this snow.
One reason I got to get this up this morning off of the drive and walkways. Before that happens and it heavy. Get it up in 6 inch sections.

flash 02-21-2015 09:44 AM

Our first wave was light snow which very quickly turned to black ice ,we slept a few hours and got out early this morning and spread more ice melt after the freezing rain from the second wave that hit us while we slept. I bet one of our students wished he had stayed in all night instead of out playing at 4 AM .He smacked 4 parked cars after kicking it around a bit too much on black ice .We were able to head home at 10 this morning as things were starting to thaw out .I am so ready for spring to get here .

RBeckman 02-21-2015 10:44 AM

64 here in Carefree Arizonia suppose to get to 81....glad I'm not home right now

carpoor 02-21-2015 12:12 PM

Currently 72* and sunny... Loving it!

Ms Grumpy 02-21-2015 05:59 PM

I feel sorry for those of you that are not used to the cold weather and snow. Today we are having a heat wave....it is in the 20's, yesterday when I got up it was -20 with the wind chill. We are used to the snow but this bitter cold is aweful.

As far as 72 and loving it.....My momma said if you don't have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all. So I am listening to my momma right now. :)

chevymaher 02-21-2015 06:15 PM

It snowed all day. I ended up doing it 3X. Ain't that special.

And tomorrow I get to do my buddies spot across the street. Snow plow came and blocked his truck spot. I kept his drive open.

So the furd is stuck in the street tonight. He got home from work and there a foot and a half high by 3 foot wide frozen ice dam I get to chip away tomorrow. Attack of the snow plow. Then I going to move the truck into its spot before it is buried and then hit in the street.

shadowgray396 02-21-2015 07:45 PM

Weather was sunny today so I fired up the Chevelle and went to coffee and cars at Starbucks this morning. Trimmed the trees and mowed the lawn today. This does not feel like winter around here. 58 here today.

BillsCamino 02-21-2015 08:34 PM

Landed in Ft. Myers around 11:30 this morning...
Sunshine and 77 degrees...sunset dinner tonight overlooking Sanibel Island...out on the restaurant's patio in short sleeves and shorts. ;)

chevymaher 02-21-2015 08:37 PM

Oh one of these days I will post from my house in the Philippines in the winter. With the nice weather. Stand on the beach at sunrise. Untill then I here in frozen Antarctica LOL.

Having our son kinda put a boat anchor on my wife and I going home there. He worth it tho.

Ken Hayes 02-22-2015 06:19 PM

Ric, I like that lake there with the canyon walls. Drag boats down there sound like monsters.

Judy's boss has 2 houses just off of Carefree Highway.

Yeah Ken this place is great, we are staying at the Carefree resort for the 4 th year in a row. My oldest son lives in Cave Creek so it is the best place for us to stay. We have been looking for a place to buy here in Carefree and rent out till we retire so we have a warm place for the winter unless we decide to buy a place down by Flint Tony but I think he has us blacklisted in Florida.

FlintTony 02-23-2015 05:36 AM

14 below zero here this morning, without the wind-chill.

Ric, after careful re-consideration, I have decided that if you fix the clock in the Camaro, you shall be removed from the "blacklisted" column.

carpoor 02-23-2015 10:28 AM

62* at 5AM when I left for work this morning.

flash 02-23-2015 11:21 AM

Its cloudy and cool here but no snow or ice so I can deal with it . I sure am ready for spring to get here though .

Hank70SS 02-24-2015 07:23 AM

Low 80's here yesterday. Got a little rain in the evening and the humidity is way up there. Dew points in the 70's so we're fogged in and everything is dripping wet. Fog is slowly starting to burn off and it's supposed to be in the 80's again today.

Ditto here in Ft. Myers but zero rain.
Spent yesterday on Sanibel/Captiva Islands with temps in the low 80's.
Heading out this AM to the Red Sox field...

flash 02-24-2015 11:29 AM

Woke up to 2" of snow everywhere which of course crippled us until the motorgrader and salt trucks finally got out .Our work was delayed til 11 AM ,got there and started throwing ice melt out again.I am so ready for this crap to be gone but they are predicting even more tomorrow night ,hope I dont have to spend the night again.

BillsCamino 02-24-2015 01:05 PM

We're supposed to fly home to ATL this evening. Been considering delaying that idea...
My son text me earlier today and says all the schools in our area are closed tomorrow. :(

carpoor 02-24-2015 01:07 PM

Light rain and low 70s today, can't win them all.

Perfect for the new sod they put down at the new place. News here today said the frost is down over 50 inches in the ground. My shop door is over half an inch higher than stock from the miserable cold. Looking at 10 below zero again tonight, with another weeks of this. I feel bad for you Southern guys that aren't used to the cold, snow and ice. The news has been showing some awful weather down there.

Hope you are having a blast Hank. Did Henry make it down there?
