What you doing this time Bill ?

grandsport 10-23-2011 07:56 PM

Not a thing....

flash 10-24-2011 06:18 AM

Thing was a car? by Volkswagon way back when.

fleming23 10-24-2011 07:40 AM

I think John is confusing threads again by starting with the last word. :)

I stopped by the speed shop to check on the progress of the 70. Should be finished up this week in time for a couple of cruises planned for this next weekend!

Bill,

If you are swapping motors, what are you doing with the old one (its a 468 right?) Or are you just pulling it to do more to it?

BillsCamino 10-24-2011 08:17 AM

The 496 is coming out for a solid roller and Brodix heads upgrade...a "more power Scotty" thing.

On the stand right now is a fresh, mild, all forged 396 +.060" (408) thats going into the '67 which is being detuned. Less stall (3500 to a 2200) and rear gear (4.11 to a 3.31) along with the addition of a Vintage AC system.

Then I'll find a new project for the 496...

But I will be at the Acworth cruise on Saturday with a few just off the plane Irish friends.

flash 10-24-2011 09:03 AM

I was sleep typing I think. Bill ,Im not sure if we will make the acworth cruise in or not with all thats going on with the rental house.Trying to put it all back together for new and improved tennants I hope.

flash 10-26-2011 09:05 PM

I wish I could say I did something with the Chevelle today but it didnt happen.

shadowgray396 10-26-2011 10:28 PM

Walked out and looked at it. Waiting for my clutch fan to come back from being restored.

SS Shaun 10-27-2011 09:52 AM

installed my sending unit and ordered my new straps and screws should be here tomorrow. install it tomorrow and just might run my fuel lines to the fuel pump lets see! :)

BillsCamino 10-27-2011 02:40 PM

Adjusted valves, tightened header bolts, tweaked on the carb a little...and DROVE it. Bowtie smiley
The 496 feels like it's gained 50hp in this cooler weather...

BBChevelle 10-27-2011 02:47 PM

Tuned my carb and experienced the rear end passing up the front of my car a few times.

SS Shaun 10-27-2011 03:07 PM

just an FYI i am jealous of you guys! now i say you come to me and help me finish my chevelle off :)

I think we all feel that way at times. Especially seeing how nice some of the cars are.
I remember the first time I saw flash's 72 vert. When he told me how much that car was driven I was just blown away. It is beautiful.

flash 10-27-2011 08:51 PM

The vert actually belongs to Ms Flash ,the El Camino is mine .She just graciously lets me drive and clean the vert as often as I like .

68ChevelleSS 10-27-2011 11:47 PM

Haven't physically seen them in 3 months now but did order some parts today.

Rharp 10-28-2011 11:53 AM

Ran it for a while last night.
Checked the garage floor this morning for oil and found none.
Guess it was the valve cover gaskets.
VERY HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Heck yeah she does ! And I am sure that she loves every moment that you two go out and spend time together.

flash 10-29-2011 06:46 PM

I also enjoy our times together ,but no time lately .The Chevelle and El Camino are sitting in wait for their time to go cruisin while Im working days at work and into the night most nights at the rental house spending money we dont have on stuff we didnt tear up. Damn I hate renters some times ,sorry rant over.

BillsCamino 10-29-2011 10:27 PM

'Ya missed a good turnout at the Acworth cruise tonight John. But it sure did cool down after sunset.
My friends from Ireland got there around 7pm...hung around for a while...and then drove over to the Marietta Diner for dinner.
The Chevelle loves these cool temps...

SS Shaun 10-30-2011 11:28 AM

with all this snow and ice and no power in my house. i couldnt get to do anything it sucked! all i did was go to the ER with my daughter who suffered from croup! its scary watching her not be able to take in air! :( she is good now and we have power back so work on the car soon :)

Rharp 10-30-2011 11:46 AM

Hey Shaun glad to here your daughter is ok.
I never noticed before that your in the Poconos.
I grew up just down the road in Washington New Jersey.
My aunt and uncle live up on a hill top out there that is part of the Dellaware water gap.
Very pretty country.
Next time I'm out in that direction maybe we could hook up, talk cars, and slam down a couple coldies.

crengo 10-30-2011 07:24 PM

started on the hood getting ready to install 2" cowel scoop

stantheman 10-30-2011 10:33 PM

Cold One On Hood

I set a cold one on the hood today. Thought better of it and then had the hood open again. Noticed the bushings are gone on the upper control arm on the driver;s side. The pass side didn't look much better. About time for a front end rebuild. It's been tough. I only have room for one car in the garage. I have parts ready for the Mustang but I find it very hard to take the Chevelle out of the garage to work on the Mustang.

Krille 10-31-2011 04:14 PM

Well, not today but yesterday :-) Drove the Chevelle to the winter-garage. My youngest daughter in the backseat.

Ms Grumpy 10-31-2011 09:39 PM

Thought about it. Just no time, Halloween with 3 kids, just no time.

BBChevelle 11-03-2011 03:59 PM

Pulled front and back windows and repaired all the cancer. I can now wash my car without water gettin inside. Next ill be puttin in my interior kit I have had for over a year. Just gotta find it.

Fat fingered from the phone-Corey

Ms Grumpy 11-03-2011 06:17 PM

Been watching the weather and it looks like this weekend will be fairly nice to get the final wash in before storing the car. I looked through the window of the garage and really wanted to start her up and go for a ride.

flash 11-03-2011 07:49 PM

I didnt even get to look at ours today.

SS Shaun 11-03-2011 10:18 PM

i leaned on mine and planned out my attack :) about $200 away from ordering my diff :)

fleming23 11-04-2011 10:53 AM

Drove mine to work today. The temp gauge started working again after screwing around with wires under the dash last night. I love driving this thing! If only the door weatherstripping actually sealed against the glass to keep the air, water and wind noise out!!!

flash 11-04-2011 11:27 AM

I dont think I will have a chance to even look at ours again until sunday at best so nothing today.

SS Shaun 11-04-2011 11:31 AM

making new plans for the chevelle as of today finally something i am going to be happy about :)

Rharp 11-04-2011 06:04 PM

Washed it, waxed it, filled it up, and put some stabilizer in it.
Tomorrow I will get out the Jack stands and get it off the ground.
Now I just need to find a cover and put it to sleep for a while.
Wanted to get all this done this weekend because next Friday we leave to Phoenix for the NASCAR race. Can't wait, it will be so nice to get away for a while. Even if it is only for a few days.

Ms Grumpy 11-04-2011 08:12 PM

I didn't do anything with the car today, but, as I was getting out of the van my neighbor walked up to me and told me something. Apparently, last night the side door on his garage was kicked in and the thieves stole all his power tools. His garage sits about 15 yards from my garage. It got some of the neighbors talking and we are going to get ahold of the local police and start a Neighborhood Watch Program.

flash 11-05-2011 06:48 PM

I walked past our chevelle today to start the 55 Bel Air ,got a little interest stirred in it today .A guy is coming to look at it tonight to see if he likes it ,being a Ford guy I dont have high hopes ,but he may know someone that would like to take her home .

Ms Grumpy 11-05-2011 07:09 PM

Good Luck flash. Did I ever get to see a pic of the Bel Air ? Still have to get you guys to post pics. I wonder if one of your boys can show you ?

As far as the car, I just tugged on the handle of the garage door to make sure it was locked.

grandsport 11-05-2011 08:49 PM

After sleeping since Labor Day,he had a rude awakening this beautiful Saturday.:p

flash 11-05-2011 09:27 PM

I knew ahead of time he was a Ford guy and probably not interesred in it but he has some die hard Chevy buddies he is going to tell about it. We will figure out a way to get you a pic .

SS Shaun 11-07-2011 07:58 AM

ordered all my parts for my rear end man that $560 bucks hurt! but it had to be done! and also found someone selling a nice set of head rest that i needed $40 shipped :) its getting there!
