Got my tee shirt today from the cruise in on saturday. Also got my console light working and had to repaint part of the top of my motor. Paint started to peel off.

I'm getting married the first weekend in June and the fiance wants it to be the car we drive off in. So, hopefully I can make it happen. If for some reason I can't, my uncle has a restored 51 Chevy truck we are going to use as a backup plan.

Nice shirt Ray.

Thanks Ray! I know it is but I've been putting in about 3-4 hours an evening after work on it, so hopefully I can do it.

Been working on adding the under dash courtesy lighting option on the chevelle today. At least I have a heated garage to work in.

I need to do that to mine one of these days as well. I have the kit, just haven't felt the desire to dig around under the dash more than I already have to.

carpoor 02-09-2014 04:28 PM

First time I have been able to work on my car in about a month. Installed and adjusted my alternator and power steering belts. Installed my negative battery cable. Trimmed my heater hoses to the proper lengths. Cleaned and painted my tilt column.

Also installed the winch in my car trailer today, going after my 69' Chevelle next weekend and the winch will come in handy.

You have to be so excited.

I went in the shop and looked at them but that is all.

carpoor 02-13-2014 04:00 PM

My Ground Up order showed up today. Grabbed a few parts for the 69' while they were on sale. (Stainless gas tank, trim parts door handles, trim parts tail light bezels) Also picked up a small clip for the 72'.

flash 02-13-2014 08:33 PM

I walked around them in the shop to make sure they were OK and that the roof was not leaking with the snow melting. I did actually clean out the back of my El Camino as I plan on driving it for a little truck gathering saturday.

SS Shaun 02-15-2014 08:38 PM

totally sanded the chevelle. filler is on and sanded nice and smooth lines are sharp. getting ready to weld up a hole that was drilled for the on and off switch and after that hand glaze what ever needs it and then prime it. cant wait to see it in primer :)

Dragged the 69' home yesterday, searched for a build sheet today - no dice.

What plant was it built at?

KC, Missouri

carpoor 02-18-2014 06:24 PM

Placed want ads, and searched for parts for the 69'. If anyone knows of any parts cars near them - holler! I am currently mostly concerned with finding a glove box door and the sheet metal around it from a solid car for a patch panel. I have a lead, but his parts cars are currently snowed in up in CT.

carpoor 02-20-2014 03:08 PM

Had a short day at work. :( So, I pulled the non tilt coulmn out of my 72'. Realized the blinker arm and tilt lever on my tilt column weren't that nice, ordered a few things from Ground Up. (They have free shipping this weekend BTW)

Also chased a few leads on parts for the 69'.

carpoor 03-01-2014 05:44 PM

I picked up a second rear seat for the 69' today. Also finally got around to cleaning everything out of the car and trunk so I could sort through it all.

Installed the tilt column in my 72' after months of not being able to do so. It fought me the whole way. Figure this one out... the harness is all new from American Auto Wire. The car is a 72', the column I installed is from a 72'. But the long, skinny 9 pin connector wouldn't plug in to the tilt column. I had to modify the plug on the car harness to fit the plug on the column.

By the time I got the coulmn back in, it was after 6pm and my afternoon was shot. Still need to install the steering wheel and steering shaft to complete the swap.

carpoor 03-08-2014 04:49 PM

Steering wheel and steering shaft are installed. Again, getting that steering shaft in was no fun. I had a fight on my hands from the word go. I also crawled under the car to tighten the U-joint straps. I shoved the DS in last year while I was hurt and waiting on surgery - never did more than finger tighten the bolts. I also rolled the engine over by hand a few times, nice and smooth. :) Can't wait to have some time off from work so I can thrash on it for a few days and get it running.

These few things killed an afternoon, sad.

Ms Grumpy 03-08-2014 08:05 PM

Seems like I have been doing a lot of dreaming about my car lately. :(

Ken Hayes 03-08-2014 08:43 PM

Went to Autorama today.......now I really want this snow gone !!!!!!!!!!!!

shadowgray396 03-08-2014 09:51 PM

My garage is now full of furniture from having to move my mother inlaw into an assited living and not being able to take it all. Can't even see the Chevelle hardly from all the junk, mean stuff. Waiting for my wife to decided what she wants to do with it all, I hope it's gone soon but don't want to push to hard.

Ms Grumpy 03-09-2014 05:48 PM

Went to AutoRama today and found out that a company will start construction on a Motor Complex in Pontiac. They will be building storage facilities that people can buy. Some on the cheaper end will cost about $70, 000 and could store up to 6 cars year round. Many of the units will be more expensive and will run up to $250,000. They will build a road course and will have more items to offer and be open to the public. They expect to start building this summer.

My highlight of the day was meeting with the owner of a detail shop that I want to get my car into after it is out of storage. Right now he has appointments available in 2 weeks, so I need to schedule my car for a time in late April, early May before everything is totally booked. He said usually by the end of March he is booked until July. This guy ain't cheap, but I think that it would be nice to have my car spit and shined by a professional.

flash 03-09-2014 06:56 PM

Joan and I took the Malivert out cruising the country roads all day today ,all is good ,even spotted some trucks and a 71 Chevelle SS to keep an eye on.

A 70 matching number SS, so sad.

carpoor 03-10-2014 06:31 PM

Hrmmm... I'm thinking it is from a certain black 70' SS 396. Am I getting warm?

shadowgray396 03-10-2014 06:57 PM

I have always wanted to build a wagon SS after seeing this car a few years back in a post.
