It definitely cleaned the area up a bit. Honestly, I kind of liked the factory box and all the GM engineering. I had kicked around the idea of changing but never wanted to give up my factory A/C. That was until I got the Corvette done.

I know one thing, that #8 plug is going to be SOOOOO much easier to get to now!

carpoor 07-21-2014 03:57 PM

Eric, what did you do with your factory inner and outer boxes?

BillsCamino 07-21-2014 05:42 PM

Last I heard, they were for sale...Eric called and offered them to me but my wagon doesn't have any dash vents. Never did...wagons have wing windows.

shadowgray396 07-21-2014 07:08 PM

Very clean looking setup

Correct, sort of for sale but I don't really want to box the stuff up to ship. One of the other local Chevelle guys is interested in everything I removed so we'll see.

BillsCamino 07-22-2014 07:23 AM

Eric,
If the local guy doesn't buy your A/C stuff and you and Carpoor can work out a deal...I can drag it all down to Daytona for the Turkey Rod Run in Nov.
I may even attend the NPD GM show in Silver Springs, FL in Oct.
Assuming Carpoor isn't in an immediate need for it...

carpoor 07-22-2014 03:04 PM

Thanks Bill! Eric, let me know if he doesn't take it. No rush at all, would be buying it and setting it aside for the 72' I just bought my dad.

Exactly what I thought...

flash 07-22-2014 06:29 PM

Bill ,I have a front grill for carpoor if you could take it .

carpoor 07-24-2014 04:15 PM

Touched up the paint on my engine, installed starter. Rolled it back over, lifters installed, push rods installed, rocker arms installed, poly locks finger tight.

Still much to do before it goes back in the car, but I haven't had much time lately. Luckily, I am almost at my 40 for the week. So I "should" be home early tomorrow, an in turn have time to work on the car.

flash 07-24-2014 07:48 PM

Got the vert out of my shop today ,driving it tomorrow . Was going to drive the truck but it developed new issues .

Ms Grumpy 07-24-2014 09:26 PM

I was working on the costume for the NOCC show for my car. I hope it turns out good.

SS Shaun 07-25-2014 07:55 AM

BillsCamino 07-25-2014 07:08 PM

And we generally do attend the Turkey Rod Run in Nov...last year was the first one in many years that we missed.
No promises but as of right now we are planning on attending again this year.

grandsport 07-25-2014 07:25 PM

Not yet, waiting to hear back from him. But it is in the works.

carpoor 07-26-2014 01:29 PM

Started off my morning reinstalling the harmonic balancer. Set it on TDC, adjusted #1 intake and exhaust. Then rolled it over a few times, no PTV clearance issues. Ran the rest of the valves, installed the intake manifold, and put the valve covers back on. I finished my day by lining up the oil pump shaft and dropping the distributor in.

Made some progress, will try and wrap up the rest on Tuesday.

I also took some time to help the old man dig through the shed full of parts. Found lots of good stuff, and put the spare Monte Carlo deck lid I had on. It fits like a glove, I'm amazed at how good the body line are.

SS Shaun 07-26-2014 03:42 PM

installed on both sides

I spent the day at the Telegraph cruise with members of the Chevelle Club of Michigan. It was nice seeing Ken and his wife Judy too. He found out something about his headlights while we were there too.

Tom from the Michigan Chevelles asked me how my headlights were when I got there. I had to think for a minute and then he said on your car. He pulled out this cool tool and proceeded to adjust the headlights on my car and many others today.

Wish someone do that to my car.

BillsCamino 07-27-2014 07:42 AM

That's Tom Lassiter...aka T-man. Been doing headlight alignments for years...was always busy at Chevelle-abration.
That's Tom's wife standing behind him...wearing the visor.
Too bad your not closer Ray...I've got the same alignment kit. Works very well too.

We had a great visit with y'all yesterday!! Have a safe trip to OH.

flash 07-27-2014 09:18 AM

Bil ,I need some headlights aligned someday ,especially on the truck if it ever decides to act right.

Ms Grumpy 07-28-2014 07:29 AM

From what I understand Tom will have his kit at the NOCC show. So get ahold of him early and ask him. He will be busy because he will have a booth selling car parts.

SS Shaun 07-28-2014 09:09 PM

I got started cleaning it for the trip to Ohio.

Ken Hayes 07-29-2014 10:01 AM

Just took my car over to his house last night. He found me a new inner RH bucket and guess what Nancy, its exactly the same as the one in the car. For some reason the tits on the sealed beam just don't line up with the indents on the bucket. When we got home I was lookin at the RH outer light and its starting to get foggy lookin.........so goin to Autozone and get some new halogen bulbs today.

Tom has his truck almost packed with stuff he's taking to NOCC along with his headlight tools.

shadowgray396 07-29-2014 09:05 PM

Took the car to 2 car shows last weekend.

SS Shaun 07-29-2014 09:35 PM

i finally figured out the gapping on the fenders. I got the both fenders done and lined up. tomorrow i think i can mask the engine bay and get ready to paint the jams for the fenders and the hood :)

Ms Grumpy 07-29-2014 09:37 PM

I FINALLY went and had the mufflers put on and I love them. They have this deep growl, the car is quieter inside, and less drone. I can't wait for the drive down to Strongsville on THursday.

carpoor 07-30-2014 04:24 PM

I wasn't able to get over there yesterday, but my father told me that he was able to repair my exhaust manifold yesterday. He also took the engine off the stand, and installed the clutch and bell housing. I'll get back on it Saturday, I have to install a magnetic drain plug in my Muncie. (It's a 67' transmission, and lacks a drain plug.) With some luck, I can get it inserted back into the car the same day.

SS Shaun 07-30-2014 09:03 PM

fenders lined up inner part of the fender is painted and the inner part of the hood is painted. tomorrow i hope to have the hood on and lined up :)

flash 07-30-2014 11:36 PM

I drove like a bat out of hell with the top down from Ga to Ohio ,damn Im tired .I thought my rear end was going to have to be peeled off the seat .

carpoor 08-01-2014 12:26 PM
